Did anyone get the AFL magazine with todays Hun?

I forgot to get one and they have now sold out.

What was written about the tiges, who and what was predicted?

Sheahan Says
Exceeded expectations with 10 wins last year, although seven came in the first nine rounds.  When Brown went down, his team went with him.  Still building for the future, but coach Wallace will have the Tigers competitive for every assignment.  They should be happy to match their 2005 return.

For Better Grant Payne
Lasted a whole season without a rumour of a coach being sacked.  Long time, wasn't it?  Be careful, Plough.   ::)

For Worse Grant Payne
Nathan Brown is the Tiger barometer.  If he plays 22 games, they could make the eight.  Seriously.  ::)

NAB Rising Star - One to watch
Danny Meyer.
Had a taste of senior footy with six games last year.  With another summer to build up his skinny frame he should show more of his silky skills and repay the Tigers for the draft pick they got in return for Brad Ottens.

Does it all rest on Brown's leg-Scott Gullan
We all know the cliches about not being a one man team and that you need "22 contributors" but the reality is that finals hopes at Punt Road evolve entirely around Nathan Brown's bung leg.  Before his horrific injury last year Brown was at the peak of his powers and Richmond won seven of it's first nine games. When his leg snapped so did the Tigers-they won just another three games for the year.  While he can't be expected to return to greatness immediately, if Brown can stay good enough to lurk around the forward line then mark down 50 goals and finals possibility.

How good can Deledio get?
If you start backing him for the Brownlow Medal at the start of the next three seasons you will make money.  He is on the Chris Judd form line when it comes to the game's highest honour-brilliant debut season followed by an improves second year and then a blockbuster third and the Charlie around the neck.  Deledio is the complete package with scintillating pace, great skills, work ethic, and the aid of arrogance that goes along with being one of the game's best.

Are Tiger fans too harsh on Troy Simmonds?
No.  All that was missing from Simmonds' arrival from Fremantle was Brian Peake's (who's he? rosy)  helicoptor.  No one gets five-year deals any more, yet here was this snake-charmer from the west lobbing at his third club with a big contract and big ambition.  With a turning circle of a 23 tram, Simmonds couldn't mark the ball for the first half of the year and, on the odd occasion he did, his goal kicking was Richo-like (19 goals from 22 games).  (What's Richo like about that?   ::))  Needs to improve quickly to win over the faithful.

Who's the skipper again?
The fact the question has to be asked would thrill coach Terry Wallace because Kane Johnson is exactly what he wants as a leader. He does all his work on the field of battle, not in the social pages. There isn't a more low-key captain going around but there also isn't a more respected player at Punt Rd than the former Adelaide premiership midfielder. Very corageous and just needs a better run with injuries to put his stamp fully on the team.

What has Schulz got planned for this year?

What about Patrick Bowden?

Will Greg Tivendale ever be seen again?   ::)

I'm a bit typed out.  Will modify to add the last few categories asap.

Yes, I meant to post about it, this morning.

As you can see, the Hun version is much more user-friendly as a quick reference.

The player stats spreadsheet is much better ordered. You can quickly fathom the sum of players who may be of a particular height, weight, age, games or goals range.

It lists the rookies conveniently at the bottom.

And there is a bit of a spiel on the team, and does ask some vague and ordinary questions.

I get both the Age & the Hun season magazines, but it's the Hun mag that I keep year after year for quick reference.

Ill type the last parts

What has Schulz got planned for this year?

Jumpin' Jay may be hoping to lower his profile slightly. Getting busted for drink-driving and causing the club to lose its major sponsor was impressive stuff from the 20-year-old last year. But after being sent to coburg for life, Schulz reappeared late in the year and showed some very positive signs at centre half-back. He's quick enough and big enough to make a fist of it and can take a fair dinkum screamer

What about Patrick Bowden?

The jury is very much out on wether Joel's younger brother is a legitimate player. Had spurts of brilliance at the Bulldogs where he looked like he could be anything, but the next minute looked like he wasnt trying. Has all the skill and goal awareness of a smart forward but needs to work on his endurance and defensive side of his game. Wallace originally recruited the 24-year-old and may throw him to the backlineto spark him into life

Will Greg Tivendale ever be seen again?

When Terry Wallace first arrived and waved his magic wand over the place "Tiv" must have been reading the paper in the can because he is about the only person at Punt Rd who hasn't been swept up by Plough's rejuvenation. Ended up playing 19 games -f or just five goals - last year, but was well and truly on the nose at the end of the year and was a trade candidate before once again surviving for his ninth season at Tigerland. Needs to ask the coach to dust of the wand again.

Shane Tuck: One-Hit wonder or real deal?

Went to almost cut to legitimately stiff not to be All-Australian last year. Tuck had a season out of the box playing as an old-fashioned centreman, leading the club in disposals and hardball gets. As a rule the season after such a breakthrough is a lot different and opposition clubs might actually think about picking him up this year. But he works extremely hard and seems durable like his old man, so bank on him to play this way for the next 20 years.

I did laugh at the Troy Simmonds /Brian Peake part. Very true.

Troy was serviceable last year but if that is the best we got from I would be very disappointed.

I actually thought the Sun Magazine was a good, quick but reasonably insightful read on each team.

Terry said last Weds (Tiger Lilies "do") that Sugar was exactly what the Club needed in a Captain and that he does an awful lot behind the scenes and we don't need an "in your face" leader.

David King said that it was a sign that the atmosphere was changing at Richmond when a bloke like Troy wants to come to Richmond and that gives the playing group a lift.
