I've been told by one of their Bloggers that the HeraldSun instructs them to stir up Richmond supporters and PRE has been used to that effect in various ways.

Captain Blood who is responsible for the Richmond articles has joined PRE to spam his Blogs. I questioned him and he told me he was in fact "Captain Blood". I requested he keep his advertising to the Journos board but he continued to spam it on various threads and boards so his account was blocked.

It's pretty ordinary behaviour on behalf of Captain Blood and the H/S to create artificial controversy, and treat Richmond supporters so disrespectfully, to get traffic for their own cause.

I've been shown evidence that HeraldSun journo, Alastair Paton, published his e-mail address indicating he was  "Captain Blood.  When the Blogs started I was under the impression they were done by grass roots supporters, a voice from the outer rather than professional journos, but that isn't necessarily the case.

Anyway I'm just pointing out the situation for those who involve themselves in sticking up for the Tiges on the Blogs that there's every chance they are only feeding fat egos who've contrived controversy simply to boost blog participation. It appears the H/S deliberately bites the hand that feeds them...the Mighty RFC and it's supporters. (Other clubs are probably treated with the same disdain but I only care about Richmond.)

Is anyone aware of Alastair Paton as a journo and if so is he a H/S footy journo?  His name wasn't familar to me but I'll pay more attention in future.

(I e-mailed the editor of the HeraldSun and also Alastair Paton in regard to this but neither replied)

shocking form if true and one must question if this was a directive from the top of the HS sport dept.

but we all know RFC stories sells papers or links in this case

Can't really help with this one.Jimbob's the only bloke I know who buys the Hun.

Pretty poor but its interesting that the Tigers blog is almost the best written fan force blog. He definitely doesn't troll like crannypete did and writes reasonably about the team.

I agree with this.

it doesn't worry me what anyone wites about my team,

As I actually get the most enjoyment reading what the Tiger Fans write back to defend this great Club.

stuff them I say - Just give it back.

I read a blog several months ago, and realised it was a piece of trash then.

Then I saw Crannypete writing another blog, and realised where they'd set the standard for "journalism" in the blogs. Haven't read another one since.

C;mon General, you make it sound like Crannypete is a moron or something like that.

Heraldsun strikes again and I am not surprised.

Lets wind back the clock a little,

This is part of a post I wrote awhile back that shows history on the conduct of the Heraldsun, straight from the horses mouth !!! I question is Mike using other pawns now doing his dirty work?

Mike Shehan. Well let me remind people on this site what this imposter as a journalist is all about.

He was once questioned what sells papers (ie relating to football) in the Heraldsun where he works while on the show "The Couch". He advised that when articles are written that place scrutiny on RFC and puts them in a bad light it sells the most papers compared to any other club in the competition & it means $$$ for the Heraldsun

Whenever they had the chance to have a dig or raise questions even though they are not warranted or right they will do it if sales have been down. Have sales been down lately Mike?

It has been awhile for Mike in having a big dig at the club & but his ego & personal vendetta has pushed out of the cracks of the closet ....
