Is there anything Richmond can do to get all their home games at the 'G' and not have to play at the dome apart from away games or is there a minimum amount of hoem games we have to play there? Because surely the RFC would push to have all our home games a the G if that wasnt the case.

the club has requested more home games at mcg for next year

they have also put forward a plan to afl to equalise stadium incomes to clubs via afl distribution. At present Essendon and Collingwood are getting huge payouts from Telstra Dom and MCG irrespective of crowds they draw at the expense of other tennants

Welcome to PRE t#7. :)

They haven't pushed to have all of our home games at the G in the past few years, they've actually sold out to play extra home games at the dump in return for financial compensation.

You mean they've been financially responsible and moved games to Telstra dome that would otherwise have made us a financial loss if played at the G?

I typed what I meant. Maybe you can post your own opinions rather than telling me what I mean. :)

I can handle watching games against interstate teams at the Dome if we have to play someone there for whatever reason, whether it's financial, contractual etc.
There can be a "house of pain" feeling with most supporters being Tigers in that situation (see Adelaide & Brisbane games).
We should be pushing for all games against Melbourne based teams to be at the G, most definitely.
We play Carlton there next week. Assuming they win, both teams players and supporters will be on a high and will come out in droves. And it's not at worlds greatest stadium. Stupid if you ask me.

So Rosy, I take it you'd rather the club either sell games interstate or lose money and play our games at the G? We would have lost money had we played Brisbane at the G today, as we only had 27k and a bit there. Break even point is 30k. I take exception to your use of the words "sold out". Given the state of our finances at the moment, I don't see they have much choice but to choose options which will reduce the amount of debt we are accrueing.

This next bit isn't directed at you.

I think it's appalling that some people want to have the clubs finances back in the black, yet don't support them when they make decisions which are rational, economic decisions. I hate the Telstra Dome too, but I'd rather we play there and not make losses financially, as we're in a bad enough position as it is. We can't have our cake and eat it too, so either we accept the club losing money for some games, or we accept they play at telstra dome 2-3 times a year. When we regularly draw over 30k for every team, then we can wave goodbye to the dome, but until then, either put up or shut up.

Average Richmond crowds since 1997:

Avg Saturday night crowds:

Without knowing the $ consequences of being above or below the break-even points at each ground, the figures can't be analysed from a financial perspective. However there doesn't seem to be any reason why we should play home games against other Victorian teams at TD (we've played 9 of our 25 home games at TD against other Vic teams).

You're telling the story General.  ::)

Tigers#7 questioned if we had to play a certain number of games at Telstra because otherwise we'd be pushing for all our home games at the G.  I merely pointed out the fact that wasn't necessarily the case as we well know.  I didn't give reasons, I didn't pass judgement, I didn't question the fact, I didn't give an opinion yet from the little I said you've tried to put words in my mouth.

If you want to discuss it well and good but don't bother interrogating me because I don't want to and I'd appreciate you discussing your own opinions rather than guessing what I think.  :blah

the doggies sold home games to darwin. they probably would have beaten port at the dome or the G. this loss may mean they miss the 8. If so - how much will that cost in finals $'s and next years memberships? Sometimes administrators can't see the bigger picture.

Richmond have made an official request to play no more than 2 games at the Telstra dump.

What I cant understand is why are Melbourne based clubs forced to play home games at the worst venue in the AFL ? Why not be fair and force the interstate clubs play home matches there also ?

There are 2 set of rules in the afl. One for all melbourne based teams and another set for interestate teams.
