Dear AFL

I have been willing to endure abysmal service from Telstra Bigpond for many years. But I have finally decided to switch providers and the straw that broke the camels back was the AFL website.

As a moderate consumer of AFL content on the internet I have been appalled at the deterioration in content, organisation, and download speed of the AFL website since Telstra has taken it over. I travel overseas frequently with work and find the site almost impossible to access overseas.

This may or may not surprise you but I go to alternative websites for AFL news, I find it to be more accurate, more up to date and less self serving.

I got to alternative websites for records and statistics because they are easier to navigate have statistics I am interested in.

The only reason I visit the AFL website is for live stats and scores and given that it is a 50:50 chance whether that service will be activie I now rarely bother with that as well.

When considering the Telstra contract in the future you might wish to consider the number of AFL consumers who are similarly appalled by the AFL website.

Goodbye

I'd get Optus only I can't get it here. :'(

Hi All

I received a reply to my email to the RFC re the website - here it is - thought you may be interested!:

Hi Lee,

Thanks for the feedback. Right at the moment, we are heavily in the process of making massive changes to the CMS, to re-launch the website in late February. This is why you haven’t seen many changes in the past three months. We have also had our website coordinator depart and we are probably 2 – 4 weeks away from a replacement.

I’d like to think that from March onwards, ours will be a much more consumer focused and content rich Richmond site, with some fantastic stats available, better video streaming and generally more Richmond branding.

I’d appreciate your feedback post the launch.

Kind regards,

I too live overseas and am disgusted I bought an AFL big pond package last year. I complained about the woeful streaming of matches and was told by the Aussie help desk to "hit the pause button for an hour b4 watching" !

I wont be renewing that is for sure.

Yep amateur hour.

The Lids photo isn't real because it looks like the same body (Simmo?) used for Polak last year.

The Site has been updated in that we now have, some stats on new players, but is *smile* to American sites. and
should be state of the Art, not the backwater, that it still is.
