I was pleased by the efforts of all our boys today. Unfortunately, thought Newmo didn't have one of his better games today. Made a couple of crucial errors which resulted in a goal to them and missed a sitter for us.

Liked Morton and Jack in the forward line. At least they put on some defensive pressure. Thought Lids and Tambling are taking steps forward. Tambling looking much more composed.

So I went from hoping we wouldn't get flogged after coming back from the west and then having to play at Telstra Dome (where we have played some of our worst footy over the years), to being exhilarated that we were in front with a few minutes to go.

But from being in that position I was gutted that we let them back in. Yes, I wasn't confident of a win in the first place, but once we were in a winning position we absolutely blew it and that should never have happened.

If we are going to play tempo footy we shouldn't be messing around near the defensive fifty. Players needed to provide leads to allow us to get it up the ground more out of the danger zone. I know they were probably all stuffed, but you can't decide to play tempo footy and then muck around near their goals or then kick to a contest. I usually see things in a positive way, but I must say I felt pretty dirty at the game yesterday, because you could absolutely sense what was going to happen when they kicked the goal to get within 12 points. Most other teams would not have lost from there, but I sensed that we would, and that's what made me really mad.

Hopefully we learn from this. I'm just hoping for a competitive effort against Hawthorn next week and that the boys don't drop their heads too much.

There were other options there, but our player kicking it, can't recall who it was now, chose the wrong option.

Gutted. I was listening to it on the radio whilst building my son a cubby house and I threw my banana skin on the lawn in disgust when I heard the final siren go. Yes, it was a good effort and yes we have improved in the past couple of weeks but you simply do not give away 25 point leads in the last quarter, especially not 3 goal leads with 3 minutes to go.

I still feel shattered, because you may as well lose if you are going to draw. You haven't won and everyone plays to win. Have a look at the players reactions. It's even more shattering when you think that we should now be celebrating 2 great wins in a row, against all odds. The players reaction to this could be very interesting, and this could potentially sting their confidence and have them back playing as a rabble against the Hawks next week. I hope not.

Jay you need to go to anger management classes. Imagine what would happen if you got really mad!! ;D

I thought you may get a laugh out of that. Funny thing is it is true.

For all those that think we blew the game, put the shoe on the other foot for a minute.
It was 20 scoring shots to 12 in the first half and they missed some VERY easy goals. We were lucky to be within reach at HT if you take the glasses off.

Disagree Oldie, a lot of there misses were not directly in front of goals majority were wide shots except for 1 or 2 i think, we can say that we too missed some sitters which i feel were more in front of goal than the dogs, newman missed 2 absolute sitters, Edwards missed one too, so did reitwoldt and simmonds.

They also received some free kicks that resulted in goals plus that 70 meter penalty that resulted in a gilbee goal.
McMahon got crunched high in that 1st Q, no free they goaled shortly after as the ball was still in the area.

Look a great effort by the boys, ran and chased hard but im only commenting more so on that last 4 mins, you dont blow a 19 point lead with a few mins left on the clock. When the siren went there smiles on the faces of bulldogs supporters, why they know they got out of jail...I looked around to see the reaction on the faces of most tiger fans and i tell ya it was a look of disappointment, a lost feeling that’s the look i had, remember being there and witnessing it first hand u do feel lost as the win was there just a few mins back, we blew it its as simple as that.
But id like to think we will learn from this if in the same situation again.

And if we are in the same situation in a prelim final we will know how to act from lessons learnt from yesterday :P

hopefully thats the case but for ppl to vote that "draw was a good result against a good team" is just *smile*@d considering the situation of being 19 points up with 3 mins to go.

I'm just ecstatic that we are playing football not that disastrous defensive rubbish we have played for the last few years. I am not happy with the draw but saw some great ball movement, great little gives under pressure to team mates actually running, better decisions under pressure, players backing themselves with pace - Foley, White, King, Deledio & Tambling - and a coach allowing them to do this. I was against the Richo move out of the forward line but all of a sudden players are running towards the forward line and picking the best option, be it Edwards, Morton, Reiwoldt, Richo or Brown. We look like we are going to kick goals. 2 weeks ago I was telling anyone who would listen we would finish with less than 4 wins and a second last ladder position but the last 2 weeks have given me hope. We did get smashed at the centre bounces (this cost us the game) but won the contested ball around the ground. Great signs and finally some pressure at the selection table.
