I think these days (and not just having a crack at Wallace here), but there is too much emphasis on tactics, rotations, and match-ups....and not just getting the players geed-up, ready to tackle and fight for everything.
Just keep things simple...no need for elaborate gameplans...its not rocket-science!
Our former coach tried the "Northey" passion approach. It'll only get you so far and you need more tricks than that these days.
I used to hate the days when we'd get flogged then come out with the "us against the world" mentality. Then scratch out a win and then celebrate like we'd won the grand final, when it was only round 6.

.
We need a long term strategy and a gameplan from the coach. The passion needs to come predominantly from within the players.
However don't doubt Terry's ability to motivate a footy team. Go and watch the "year of the Dog" doco. Wallace can fire players up as well as anyone.
I'll put faith in Wallace's intrinsic mechanisms over the more simplistic approach for a while yet, but there has to be a balance.
