How does Public/Media negativity affect the players?

If players can't take the heat........Go & play something boring like Tennis!
Go to any Country footy game and you'll see & most importantly HEAR abuse from the crowd.Toughens you up.Nothing like dodging a pie or can of Beer from the crowd.

Bloody cry-babies!! ;D
It is interesting you should mention country football and the cuddle generation of city kids.I have been watching the fortunes of Yarrawonga over the last few years.Give me three or four of these types in our side anytime, and I dare suggest a major improvement in our team culture.

It seems obvious that the negative publicity (or the threat of negative publicity) doesn't motivate the players to try harder. Would think most couldn't care less as long as they get their pay checks from the front office each week.

Love to be with you when you tell some of the players that face to face mate - such an easy putdown to throw out there with no chance of a response - sorry Phil, but I really hate these sort of put downs........................

Not sure what the putdown was there Pharace.....if the threat of negative publicity motivated them then I dare say we wouldn't have seen the rubbish that was served up on Sunday.....

In terms of not caring less- it is in regards to negative publicity, not winning or losing. Players and coaches often say they don't read the papers or care about criticism from outside the club, so again not sure what the putdown was there. Perhaps the line about collecting their paychecks wasn't warranted and for that i apologise if i offended.
