PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

Was just thinking about this since Friday's demoralising loss to the Premiers.
People were ringing up SEN (24 hr sports radio station for those ourside Victoria) on Friday with varying views about the Tiges and whether much should be read into the performance against Geel and what lies ahead for the year. It's only pre season stuff I know but how do we break this losing mentality (whether perceived or otherwise) amongst the playing group?
Saturday night during the Grand Final of the NAB CUP the channel10 commentators listed their top 8 and then 16th place only.
Of the 4 commentators polled Robert Walls, Luke Darcy and Malcom Blight all had us 16th. The other guy (can't recall who it was..maybe Tim Lane) had Melbourne last.
Do our players care what the Media/Public think?
Do they read the papers?
How do they keep pumping themselves up?
Sometimes I think (I know this is probably not the case) the players get paid, their careers start, their careers finish, they move on with their lives probably go back to supporting the clubs they followed when they were young, meanwhile the long suffering supporters don't get this option. We just wallow from year to year waiting for something to happen to this great sleeping giant that is The RFC!
I just wonder if there are enough strong wills out there amongst the senior players to keep inspiring the younger ones that better days are not far away.
I really don't want this to come off as a negative or deafetist post. I am just wondering how we can get the positivity level working in our favour as the season opening fast approaches.
In 11 days the Richmond Football Club will be on prime television around the country and with all the crap about Judd we will be well and truly in the spotlight. A bad loss will be extremely heartbreaking and hold dire consequences for the year ahead.
I really hope from the bottom of my heart the boys can get themselves up for Carlscum, spoil Judd's debut and get us off to a good start!
