How many games will the young guys play??

I'm interested in the opinions of my learned PRE colleagues regarding defenders and the backline, and who has the goods among the newbies . Over to you.

The backline? Well it's very fragile, 1 or 2 key injuries and we'll be staring down a barrell.

If this could be achieved during 07 - then IMO we will be on our way towards playing a couple of finals series on the trot..... hasn't been done since the early 70s....

How good would it be if Jack; Cleve and even Pollack all stand up and have good years??

We're finally getting a strong playing list with good depth!

Just a small point.  Weren't we the "youngest" side running around the park last year?  With our retirements and delistings we will be fielding a younger side than ever.  To be honest Rensman - the coaching staff can be as conservative as they like but the class of 06 and 07 will be fighting for spots with players who aren't that much older.  And I have to admit I love it.

Can you think back three years ago - we couldn't delist our players fast enough.  In all honesty despite some obvious targets we don't have many, if any, of that ilk left.
oh yes we do i can reel them off if you like.and as long as they are getting games thee will be no significant improvement from being ordinary to a decent finals side.
anyway im all for playing as many kids as possible and as often as possible because imo wallaces 5 yrs start now.all hes done so far is give himself a decent starting base.

it's interesting to note that none of the new boys were given a look in for the first official pre season game. i still think a conservative approach will be taken and these boys wont be getting as many games as many on this thread would lead us to believe.

I really dont see why Jack cant play senior footy and a lot of it this year. From what I saw of him in the Coburg vs Geelong match is he has this presence about him that you cant buy, he played senior footy last year and has added which looks about 5 kilos to his frame. His hands are terrific, as is his confidence, I think in the senior environment he'll thrive. Travis Casserley is an impressive unit to - and no there is no better kick at the club then him. He should also play senior footy. A big year is needed from Jay *smile*, he is in my mind eqaul to anyone as our most important cog, if he plays at full forward fit all year, we have a potent forward line. I may get pulled up on this but I want our forward line to look like this:

HF: Pettifer Richardson Meyer
F: Brown *smile* Riewolt

Maybe I have way too much confidence in Jack but I see something very special in him.

something tells me we're in for an injury riddled season - espec. our older guys.

So I'm now tipping an early early draft pick and lots of experience for the younger guys. :P
