How many Milne?

Fantastic game by Raines. His best for the club.Loved his penetrating run out of tight situations and attack on the ball.Pretty good disposal to boot. Most promising.

Cant see Rainsey being earmarked as a smal backman forever. He's too good purely for that role. Think we will see him alot more in the middle in the future. He's always looked likely Rainsey.

Cheers

here here Evo, for mine the most pleasing thing for mine out of last nights game along with Wills game until he tragically did his knee.

Really liking his attack on the footy & his tackling.

I know what you mean, but I disagree. He gave us some run AND negated Milne.

Can you really see his contribution in midfield being worth MORE than the five goals most small forwards kick against us?

How good was that passage of play when Raines received what appeared to be a hospital pass, took a side-step and then hit the afterburners up the field, completely evading the defender. Very classy.

Yes of course I can. It is common practise to start off a young guy such as Rainsey in the backline. This teaches accountability and strengthens your defensive game. Raines has played most of his young career in a mor central role and shows he has excellent abilities inside the packs, and is a quick thinker. He is also very level-headed as shown in an interview with Herald Sun a week and a half ago where he mentioned he had ambitions to play in the middle.

I dont necessarily think it will happen straight away, especially if he continues to play as he did last night, but eventually once he builds up strength and stamina, a definite candidate for a more central role, maybe in the centre like his father.
