a simple question that i have asked several times now and most have seen fit not to answer it.

so how many people one two three 6 maybe. after todays game i would have thought this question becomes imperative to answer surely wallace and co are asking it.

I PERSONALLY BELIEVE OUR SMALLS AND MID SIZED PLAYERS SHOULD ALL BE ABLE TO KICK WELL OOPS CAPS ON SORRY.
the only time i would excuse this is if they bring something outstanding to the table that out weighs their kicking defiiency.

Thats cause there are too many people on here wearing rose coloured glasses.

You can carry maybe one or two. Maybe.

We have about 12 that are no good.

We are seeing the effects of it now.

Agree, we have only one player on our list who does this. Spot on Claw.

I'd say maybe 2 of your mids, maybe 1 of your rucks, and 1-2 of your forwards.

None of the folks in the backline should be bad kicks. Your 2 mids who aren't great kicks are your extractors who will be at the bottom of the pack firing out handballs to the elite kicks. The rucks don't need to be great kicks, and I think your back-up ruckman could be ordinary, as he'll just handball anyway. I can handle one forward being an ordinary kick, if he's the guy who's tackling and pressuring like crazy to keep the ball inside your forward line.

Not sure of the exact number. I am sure that we have had AT LEAST one to many in every team over the past 27 years. The club thought that drafting Danny Meyer was the answer...apparently it wasnt though.

What do the opinions of people on here have to do with the skill level of our players pray tell?

You are all wrong - Wallace's game plan doesn't involve kicking so these sort of "skills" are not required.

Based on today's performance I would say we have about 15 players who DO NOT have AFL standard kicking skills.

It is pretty clear this is the No.1 reason why we put in these humiliating performances. After watching the 1st quarter, I knew it was only a matter of time before the turnovers would kill us.

Another problem is that the players in our team ( Lids and one or two others) who can kick the ball get tagged out of the game way to easily!

The real answer is ZERO! It still astounds me that at the ultimate level experienced AFL players claiming and earning hundreds of thousands of dollars still can't regularly execute the the basic fundament of football: kicking.

Too many can't make a drop punt tumble end over end, too many can't kick acurately, too many can't kick over 40m, too many kick the ball either over the head or well short of it's intended target and too many don;t understand about kicking the ball to where their intended target WILL BE in 2 seconds time, not where they are when you kick it.

We had today making unforced errors by foot: Newman, Riewoldt, White, McGuane, Richo, Tambling, Foley, Rance, Bowden off the top of my head plus many other regular butchers like Graham, Tuck, Simmonds ......

Luckily AFL footy is cyclical and full of copy cats and seeing as Hawthorn have openly said they will only recruit players with very good footskills then hopefully we'll follow suit.

One of the geelong coaching staff told me that they look for athletes when drafting kids. He said they can teach them how to kick later!

Are they still a part of the coaching staff??
That's one of the stupider things I've read.
