How much damage is being done?

We just need to "relax", close our eyes, let go and free-fall.

Play the kids even if they are not ready - Gourdis, Browne, Post, Vickery, even Gilligan.

Send our core players to early surgery if required.

Place no emphasis on winning.

We need to be smart about this.

We can get pick 1 if we really want it.

We could quite easily of dropped spud in '04, still got our picks but the players might have gotten over the stigma of the '04 season sooner and we just might of made finals in "05.

we were 7 and 2 the following year, 05. i think we got over the stigma quick enough.

Actually we can’t Harry because I doubt Melbourne will win 5 games even if they beat us twice.

You never know - there is a chance.

It seems to me now that Caro has announced him as a lame-duck he is one. They may as well engineer his retirement, pay him out and announce it in an orderly fashion next Tuesday.

Craig McCrae/King stand in coach and start the interviews immediately.

Interesting that Caro said that Chocco Royal is not considered for the caretaker role. He is the senior guy. Looks like he goes when Terry goes.

No we can't, Melbourne will undoubtedly tank, have less than 5 wins 2 years in a row and thus get the No. 1 priority pick.

The lesson from 2004 is that had we replaced Frawley mid-season, we probably could have picked up and won a few more games at the end of that season.

We probably would have missed out on two early picks and probably entered the 2004 ND at pick 7 or 8.
(Please note, I do not want to enter a discussion on the merits of our early picks of that year.)

The lesson for this year, 2009, is that we could possibly replace Wallace mid-season and win enough games to let us enter the 2009 ND at pick #8 again, as last year. Or we can write off 2009 with the hope that we can have pick #3 in the 2009 draft.

I believe Melbourne have planned to lock in picks #1 & 2 already.

The lesson to be learned is what positives we can create out of the current situation that will see the greatest long term benefit.

Shallow draft - YES (at this stage)
GC looming? - YES
Top 10 picks a sure thing? - well, sometimes. who really knows?

But what is assured is there will be further damage if Terry stays. We need a change, if, for nothing less, to keep the media at bay and let the players get on with playing.

I agree with Rosy's post. 100%. I hope that what is reported in the media is accurate, that the baord are coming to terms with Terry to move him on in the next fortnight or so. There is little benfot to be gained by staying. A fresh start will do wonders for the club.

Oh and byt the way - Just Kick It, Tigers!

Yep.

Again it's setting long term priorities.

If your long term aim is making finals in 2010, so be it.

If your long term aim is setting the team up for possibly something higher but longer term, well that's another thing.

You do not need to bottom out to acheive success. We have proved this by bottoming out repeatedly (it stopped other clubs bottoming out and they are all successful)

I dont want to win another game this year we need all the best picks possible to fix the mess our list is in.

definitely looks like they are preparing the way for him to say done and dusted. Don't mind if he stays on, just wish the reality would be acknowledged (that he's over for 2010).

please fast forward round 22 and pick some young guns up in draft and get me excited for 2010 then drop me like a hot potato like normal

Totally agree, on all accounts. As much as it pains me to entertain the notion of not playing to win, this is a exceptional circumstance all things considered with imminent draft raping about to begin in the next few years.

I don't like the idea of tanking, but given the drafting situation over the next few years, better to keep TW on and lose I suppose. Of course we've all got to wait for the Mid Year Review as well, that will be the key, what's in that document, what its identified and how its going to be fixed and over what period.
