PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

Just reading 2nite a few replies about how passionate or silly us tiges fans are from CC Tiger and Irockz on the rich v carl thread made me think about starting this thread......Thanx guys 1 and a half hrs later its ready to be posted...

How much does the RFC consume ur life?, IE: Going to AFL games, reading magazines/books, watching TV games/Video’s/DVD’s and actually speaking about it to friends, colleagues and family.

How much have u spent on RFC merchandise either for urself or others?

Have u ever defended a player or the team in general at the footy or even in your own town that almost/or did result in an altercation?.

Id have to say that im a lunatic when it comes to the tiges having only missed about 7 games in 20+ yrs, in 1998 my sister got married on RD 1 when we played Essendon and i was trying to get them to change their wedding date yes change their wedding date the most important day on their calendar, so for months i tried and tried but to no avail, i was that pissed off i didn’t talk to either of them for 3 weeks.

Also growing up if i was invited to a "special occasion" more times than not i wouldn't go as id always make an excuse any excuse really as long as i got out of it, why? cause i didn’t want to break my sequence of attending games some family members would say its only footy, i would reply its ‘my life’.

I will never organise a holiday that would see me missing games; i feel if im not their something is missing, weird but true.

Just last month i attended my nephews birthday and some of my sisters friends were their one a magpie fan and we spoke footy for over 3hrs, he actually was amazed i knew so much about his team plus all their up and coming players. Party goers were continually saying hey footy finished months ago, our reply not for us we’re discussing all the trades and drafts.

As well as religiously attending games i talk about it just as much, at home, with friends on the phone for hours, at work with tiger supporters and also opposing supporters.
I mean if we had to calculate all the minutes we spoke about footy at work, on the phone, on the net etc etc you would be surprised how much of ur life is dedicated to Richmond.

Like CC tiger mentioned, what would u do for the luv of the tigers....Well whether it’s buying merchandise, memorabilia, travelling to god knows where to attend a game/praccy match or even helping our beloved club out in one way or another.

I have spent thousands upon thousands on all sorts of memorabilia mostly frames, team of the century, jack dyer, tiger legends etc etc etc.

The save our skins was like half a life time ago but i remember it vividly, i donated 2 specially made black and yellow bomber jackets to the club which at auction raised $800.

In the late 90’s being asked to be a part of the RFC membership task force was an honour for me “all volunteer work i might add” but i was as proud doing this as anything that ive ever done. To be recognized by the club with all that i contributed and in writing mind you is till this day very appreciative from me and others who were involved.

In 1995 and 2001 lining up and staying overnight to get finals tickets but more so remember 2001 keeping my place in line at the dome with many others, blanket and sml pillow in hand...ahh the things we do!

Finally on defending the honour of our players, yes i have done this plenty of times.
It’s hard at the footy when someone has a go at Richo, being my fav player i do tend to fly the flag for him and yes their have been some pretty stern/loud arguments and more so altercations with opposition supporters. It’s bloody hard to ignore them when they keep going on and on.
