PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

1. The Demons have been off the boil for the least 3 rounds. Is this their annual slump? The difference between this year and previous years has been the fact that Melbourne has been playing poorly but have still been winning their games. Richmond need to ensure Melbourne cannot get their running style of game up which has beaten teams like Collingwood and St. Kilda at the 'G this year.

2. As so many have said, the 'G is a place you can't hide. Richmond need to ensure that the pressure is on Melbourne from the get go. Richmond have been winning against the top sides because they have worked hard on and off the ball to make sure the opposition does not get cheap kicks. They need to do it again.

3. Melbourne has been starting poorly since the start of the year. Richmond need to exploit this and get early goals to keep the pressure on the Demons.

4. Don't get sucked in to the physical pressure of some of the Demons men. Work hard on the ball and not the man.

5. Isolate Melbourne's inexperienced backman. A clogged backline will allow Rivers and Whelan to peel off their men and become a loose man in a marking contest. Make sure that Carroll and his man (whether it be Richo or Schulz) have the goalsquare to themselves.

6. Don't get sucked in to thinking Melbourne's forward line revolves around Neitz. Melbourne have a rotation forward line which can change focal points within seconds. Defenders like the two Bowden's may not get away with playing as loose as they have at times. Racking up the possessions may not be as important this week.

7. Melbourne have conceeded some large scores this year while still winning the game. The key is not to score big, but to ensure Melbourne don't score. Turn it into a scrap if needs be, but denying Melbourne the football will prove imperitive to ensuring the 4 points come to Tigerland.
