PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

Could you live with this team as our round 1 opener??

Backs: Thursfield Gaspar Newman

Half backs: Hyde Hall J. Bowden

Centre: Coughlan Tuck Deledio

Half Forward: P. Bowden Richardson Pettifer

Forward: Tambling Schulz Brown

Ruck: Simmons Johnson Rodan

Interchange: Stafford Moore Jackson Kellaway

Now I know just about every man and his dog will a varying opinion about this team, but that's fair enough.

Some of my reasonings. Richo at CHF gives him room to move around, and not have to contest with two or three opposition. Schulz at FF. Good mark, tall and strong in packs, with Brown and Tambling to do the crumbing.

Thursfield showed enough guts and skill last year to have the BP job. The HB's, centre line and rucks are almost the same as last year, with the exception of Rodan, who would give some spice to centre breaks. He could change with Deledio if necessary.

The Interchange:- Stafford for a pinch hitter up forward, Moore for a half forward post if P. Bowden did not fire, Jackson as a replacement option on the backline, and likewise Kellaway. Both Strafford and Kellaway would not be able to play for long periods, but handy experience coming off the bench.

Has trouble fitting Knobel into the side. Note I have left out Chaffey and Tivendale.

Also have some concerns that this team is not all that different to last year, when we could only finish 12th.

There you go, pick it to pieces if you wish. Most have their favourite players and where they would like to play them.
