I know we have a trade and draft period to come and with all injuries mended how could our team look next year when up and running.(With everyone back to their best). Will then give us a look at surplus players and holes in our side.

B.   polo  thurs  jb                     surplus ; kella, harts ,moore, gas
hb  newman  pb   tuck                           howat,casserly,jon,mcguane
c    lids    raines   bling                           meyer,roach,tivvers
hf   pett   shultz  browny                       hughes
ff    foley   richo hyde                             limbach,rodan,jacko,
rck  simmo,patto                                    graham,hall,knobel
mid  cogs,kane,                                      krack.white

Gone for sure: chaff, staff,   In trouble: gas, tivvers, jacko
     In summary:
Very injury prone backline
Patty Bowden or k moore(one has to stand up next year and make chb his own not little cameos.)Thursfield will take time to come thru after the knee injury. But you'd like to think,Wallace could go to patty and say set yourself early son for chb.Patty would have got a heap of confidence out of this year.Kellaway will be needed for one more year to plug holes and do the brave things. Kelvin will be on his last legs for sure. He will need to get fit ,keep fit,and hold down a spot or his career will be gone.McGuane has to start making a spot in the team his as well.
Gas imo will probabley be gone tis year.Harts would like to see him have a huge preseason, stay fit, and play the role raines played this year, taking them on and having a bounce.
Centre line
Tambling,raines,Delidio
Say no more, the future is arriving quickly.Would love to see Rainsy given a run through the centre pumping it into the 50.Even the next few weeks!
forward line
The depth is growing, petts shultz and browny back to his best, looks a very solid half forward line. With richo up forward taking the best backman, will make it easier for hughes and limbach to come in and play some good cameos next year and get some valuable game time for the future.
The rucks
Looks solid again, with simmo and patto, with hall to be used in an emergency. However would be good to see some one like wood from bris traded for to add a bit of depth. We could then trade knobel.
Mids
I think we'll have to keep looking in the draft for more quality mids, we don't have an over supply.

Your backline looks thin; Forward line, light on for marking power & midfield, very slow;
Please reconsider your thought process...please.

Definately would not have Howatt in the surplus list, on current form. I'd hate to see him go to another club and rack up successions of 30-pluss possession games against us.

CHB is still a big worry
B2 plays better as a third man up
Kelvin is still to small and injury a concern but could take the smaller CHF

At 7:41pm Richards42?
Of course buddy...Nothing like an International when you slip the working shoes off ;)

Gee we need a good CHB!!!!
Who played CHB for us in 2001?
Our talls look weak and thin without RIcho!!
We need some talented KPP! Not just tall kids but even a Kepler Bradley type what he be worth or what would Ess ask??

Holland and then he did his knee and was never the same again.

And Stuart Wigney in 1995, he was having a great year until he broke his ankle in the last few minutes of the game against the Swans. The same game that Richo did his knee!

Good post.

The backline as a few have said is the problem , our achilles heel if you like.

Will Thurts come back?
Are we placing too much pressure on the kid?

Shultz for mine may have to hold down either full back , depending on match ups or CHb on the big bodied players.

Half back line i would add Harts as i am a big fan of this kid and hope he comes on leaps and bounds ala Raines.

I wouldnt play Joel in the backline. Either wing or half forward.

Love the centreline as this is the same i have been pushing for the last month. Pace , pace , pace and the ability to kick goals and pressure the opposition.

The half forward line i would place Browny out of the square one out not at half forward

Tuck i would try at CHF instead of Shultz but again it depends on team structure and match ups.

Foward pocket is too light for mine. I would play Hyde at half forward and replace as i said earlier with Joel there and Petts forward pocket.

Simmo ruck with back up (surprise packet ) Graham ?

Our midfielders is the problem. Capt Kane is a stopper which leaves Cogs but coming back from injury we shouldnt expect much. This is where we need help with another two finds, plus a backman(big bodied) and another forward

All with skills

Maybe look at JON and Jacko over summer/pre season as possible midfield types??????????

Just a suggestion
yes you don't realise how light on we are till you put it on paper to see how many mids we have.No wonder we struggled when cogs and newman went down. The backline looks thin as well. Thats why patty bowden should be given a new role.Keep attacking but also learn to go man on man with some of the gorillas.

Re the backline I think P. Bowden just might be a CHB.  That last game when he took multiple pack marks really impressed me.  He is taller than Joel (Joel has always been undersized at CHB).  He is finding the footy - greater accountability combined with still letting him stay behind the footy might just work.

Perhaps if you set up slightly differently this might work (for 2007)

Back    Thursfield, Kellaway, Newman
HBack  Raines, BowdenP, BowdenJ
Centre Tambling, Tuck, Deledio
HFwd   Hyde, Richo, Pettifer
Forwds Brown, Schulz,  Krack
Follwrs Simmons, Johnson, Coughlan
Int.      Patterson, Foley, Polo, Meyer
Emer White, Moore, JON

Kellaway did ok for a fair while early this year as the named full back and will keep the home fires burning while Thursfield finds both size and fitness to try and take on a KP.  If Cogs can't get ready then Foley becomes the rover and White or Moore hits the bench depending upon the team.

Pretty good Brett.Glad some one agrees with the p bowden for chb. Would make a huge difference to the structure of the club.
