I was having a think about how TW has been going with the Tige's, which got me onto having a ponder about the rest of the AFL coaches... thank goodness it is pretty quite at work this lunch.

I got to wondering how everyone on here perceives just this. As such I thought we could go with the trusty 3, 2, 1 vote count for who you think have been the best, as well as worst, performed coaches up to Round 5.

Mine would be...

Best
3 votes - Leigh Matthews. I think the Lions great play has surprised a lot of people this year
2 votes - Neil Craig. Even with the injuries they have had, Adelaide is always in there. Just come across as well coached to me
1 vote - Mark Williams and Alastair Clarkson with both teams progressing really well this season they deserve a vote

Worst
3 votes - Mark Thompson. For a team that looks so good on paper, the Cats never fail to disappoint their fans which I just love ;D
2 votes - Our very own Terry Wallace, for reasons that have been done to death on many forums :(
1 vote - Paul Roos. I just haven't been very impressed with the Swannies so far, so he cops a vote

Let us know who do you think deserves the votes.

Best = Matthews...as pointed out in above post.
Worst = Wallace... lying to our faces to much e.g brownys injury

Honestly, do you really believe he's been lying?! ::) It's more like that he stated what was the common thought AT THE TIME, and that this has changed several times...they have just been repeating their own knowledge going by what the specialists were saying. I.e, initially they were told it was a 4 week injury, so they said that, then it didnt heal that quickly, so they were told a further two weeks, and so on, until lately they've not been told by the specialists a specific time frame.

The club wasn't upfront until yesterday. The rest of it has been a batch of Dr Seuss story telling.

So a coach who lies (which is debateable) is the worst coach in the league, irrespective of how they actually perform in their job?

No problem with you having the view that Wallace is the worst coach, but to say so because he is "lying to our faces" is a load of crap.

John Worsfold is the best performed coach - dealing (no pun intended) with all the offield stuff and still having a team 5-0 is remarkable.

Terry is not the worst but mightely close to - and not for the fact of his spinning (although that really drives me nuts) its his continual mismatches and tactics in winnable games.

Mark Thompson is the worst coach. To have a Geelong team like that and do nothing is disgraceful.

100 votes to John Worsfold for all the sh!t that's happened at the Weagles & there still cruising!

I agree, not the worst, but shocking in terms of:
1) his failure to improve us in the time since he has taken over;
2) his 2011 comments - and subsequent media bath; and
3) our woeful recruiting.

If he were a European football coach he would have been out on his ear...

I know it's hard to keep up with another team's juniors, but surely you've heard how well our kids have been going the last couple of weeks, both for Coburg and Richmond?

1) He is upgrading and turning over our list. None of the kids recruited are even close to their potential. If your sick of quick fixes then recruit kids. As he has done.
2) By 2011 those kids will be 23-25 range reching their prime and we should at our peak by then and challenging the top 4 otherwise then we have made recruiting mistakes not to be judged at mid 2007
3) Ou rrecruiting has been terrible in the past. We have some great kids on our list with a few senior guys to be out of the system in the next few years with emerging talent. You can argue KK and Knoble but they are fixing short term gaps and putting pressure on the kids to help fast track development.

BEST

3 votes - John Worsfold
2 - Neil Craig
1 - Leigh Matthews
Honorable mention - Mark Williams

WORST
Hard to judge worst because it more comes onto the players but
3 - Laidley, poor list management struggling and dont look to be better than an 8th position side for while to come.
2 - Ross Lyon, Injuries yes but the players dont seem to respect him and want GT back.
1 - Mark Thompson, looks the most uninspiring person on tv, just cant get this group to click. Geelong need a real hard arse who is gonna break the guys down Kardinia Park way!!!
