Can I just ask - and I'm not being sarcastic here - how cracking it on an internet forum abour players, coaches or administrators is somehow sending a message to the RFC that will, in turn, become a received and recognised ultimatum to improve performance? Seems more like an exercise in p!ss!ng in the wind to me. I take on board Rosy's comment from within the RFC about an angry mob being better than an apathetic mob, I'm just wondering what all the angst in here is actually worth.

Don't get me wrong, and don't read between the lines. I'm not saying all is fine. We're 0-4. I share concerns over certain players - as an example, Gas must be close to the end and, while I've defended him in the past, Pettifer's last couple of games have been terrible. I too have opinions on players. I also think TW's use of Polak has been questionable. I just think I'm not being much of a supporter by dummy spitting about it online.
Could you please do this thread in english Hopper.
We'll just call that a Qantas post then mb. Way over ya head! ;)

the point is Stuggles, that making inane, repititive, unconstructive, criticisms of the Club is not the only way (or Any way) to show that you care. I care passionately about the club -and all the things you mentioned, but I simply refuse to fall into this mentality of turning on the Club to express it. If you need any examples - the mere fact that there is now a thread promoting Kayne gets sacked is evidence for you; the fact that Wallace now cannot say anything without half the posters immediately accusing him of 'spin' etc. It just sucks.

Look I get tired of when Craig makes himself out to be a recruiting guru and repeats himself 2000 times as well, but I am concerned about the clubs welfare.
I know we had a complete and utter shambles to rebuild after 2004, and that won't be a simple task even 3 years on.
However I see players like Krakouer who have done little to nothing getting regular games.WHY?
I hear supporters in the pubs before and after the game say they are getting fed up with paying up plenty of money for years on end for little success or even consistency.
We have many supporters who are becoming alienated by chronic under achievment.
The Richmond football club can thank its stars for the past loyalty and endless patience of its fan base.........but its growing weary from what I can gather.
If the club has crap attendances for the remainder of the year (very possible) then TV exposure affecting sponsorship can be damaged and all the hard work getting membership figures up to 30K will take a severe dent as well.
Thats cause for concern I'd say.
The fans are seeing a lack of leadership onfield, players shirking the hard ball and perennial skill errors that seem to bedevil us eternally continue on again and again and again, by players who have had more than enough of our time and patience to produce better.

I remember sitting in the crowd at the MCG in the rain against Adelaide in the early 90s when there was about 9000 people there.
I don't want to see the club revisit those days and jepordise its already tenous hold in a crowded Melbourne market.
It could happen if we don't get out the abyss sometime soon :-\

Top post Struggles. The signs are already there. 36000 against the Western Swill was a poor crowd. I'll be surprised if there's more than 25000 this week. Whether the flower sniffers like it or not, continual pissweak performances from this club could do untold damage for the future.

Must say I agree with the general sentiments expressed by Hopper. A lot of people's comments come across like opposition supporters putting the boot into the club.

I am actually really concerned about the level of vitriol, because unless we as supporters actually support the clubs direction it may return to it's old ways of coach sacking and topping up. This would be a real disaster, and is a far worse threat than a poor season. Goodness knows we could use the high picks!!

Thats really the point I was trying (maybe not in a very well articulated manner) to make: we cannot revert to the kind of rabble we were up to Frawley's appointment: As bad as Frawley was as a coach: the appointment and committment to him was a definitive point where we changed ourselves: We wouldnt have got TW if we hadnt taken the tough decision to stick by him and had the balls to stick to our guns. It was a first step. So far under TW we've had pleasing progress, with lots to be happy about and only a few hiccups. Now, when we come up against hte first real bump in the road we cant just cave in and revert back to another mentality. As supporters we should just not be a fickle as that. Its a bump- its a time when we're meant to pull together and fight the outside world, not the eat our own.

I care desperately for tthe future of the club; but nothing will change if we dont stick to our guns when there are problems to overcome. I dont recall TW ever saying it will be all plain sailing and I dont expect him (or Miller) to have an answer every minute of every day. One word they have used often is Perserverence - and Im wondering how many supporters actually, truly understand the meaning of the word. Obviously to some, Perserverence can not accommodate 4 losses... even though I dont think there's been a single season in the last 25 where we didnt lose 4 on the trott (??).

Perseverence?? Dont you mean patience??

Also there have been seasons where we have not lost 4 on the trott.

1995, 1996, 1998 & 2001 come to mind. There might be more but I couldnt be bothered checking the records!! :hihi

Another generic rant. I expect many posts involving the dreaded overhead clap to follow.

Seriously, if you don't want to read people's opinions and comments on their club and where it can improve, a supporter message board probably isn't the place to be reading.
Wrong - on both fronts. My opinions are as valid as yours and calling them generic or a rant is a load of utter sh!te. Just because I won't join your chorus of disdain doesn't mean I have no place here.

Can you highlight where I have joined this chorus?

In fact wouldn't a "supporters message board" be the perfect place for me. Maybe you're the one who should go find a whingers message board to better suit the candour of your posts.

I will wait until I feel the need to start a generic thread whinging about what other people are posting before I do that.

I'm absolutely fine with different opinions and comments

Then why start a thread whinging about them?

- it's just they are hard to distinguish amongst some of the cyber tantrums around here.

And finish off with more attacking posters rather than the ball. Excuse me if I don't jump on the feelgood bandwagon of shooting the messengers.

Our opinions here wouldn't make one iota of difference on-field hopper but due to the varied range of opinions and experiences from many different walks of life I think there are things for the club to think about in regard to off-field comments and suggestions.

A discussion forum would be nothing without people expressing their opinions and unfortunately when Richmond are down the negative will far outweigh the positive. Wait until we win some games and watch the momentum swing the other way.

I'll add to the don't cares. I don't really care, much as I'd love them to, if Richmond never win another premiership. Well not quite true cos I do care but it won't stop me supporting them and going to games. They're like a family I've grown up with and just because they're like recalcitrant kids it's no reason to give up on them even if I could.

Did I mention I really, really want us to win a game? Would make the ModSquad's life a whole lot easier and PRE far less depressing reading.

Has anyone else been coping it from opposistion supporters when leaving the ground?
Two weeks in a row I've copped it!!
First it was a bunch of idiot Collingwood supporters looking for a fight, then four western Bulldogs supporters in a car harrasing me, asking aren't you embarrassed to have Wallace and Brown?

So like any normal Richmond Supporter I gave them the Bird, told them to go *smile* themselves and put the Richmond Theme song on really loud so I couldn't hear their bitching.

Nah beau I haven't copped anything from opposition supporters, in fact as I've already posted, I was sickened by Collingwood fans commiserating with me after the game. I'd rather they stirred me than gave me their sympathy. Unfortunately until we start winning we're a decent target for opposition sledgers unfortunately.

I don't care if we are 0-4. I'd rather we weren't and I bemoan it to my friends, but I'm not gonna sling off at everyone who has anything to do with the club as though I'm some sort of expert.

I don't care if TW keeps playing Pettifer, Gaspar, P.Bowden. Tambling and Krakouer. I also don't care how many of the sooks in here don't like it.

I don't care if Deledio doesn't play midfield and isn't immediately appointed captain.

I don't care if a lack of results means some feel entitled to spit the dummy and call for blaming of the coach - like that would be useful. Not that there are many replacement ideas being suggested. I don't care what hyper-critical people and armchair superstars have to say.

I don't care if TW makes the odd error in judgement in what he says to the media. I don't care if sensitive little flowers think that's spin doctoring, lying to the members or trying to secure his own job career. They are people whose opinions I choose not to care about.

I don't care if my brightsiderness, optimism, and unconditional support makes me a feral, fool, deluded or otherwise in the eyes of some around here. I'm not applying for a job at RFC and I don't care if my ideas are worthwhile or not. I'm a supporter (and member) - my best service is in being the best supporter I can be.

I don't care if more patience is required despite the fact we've been patient for 27 years. If it's something we can't change, then why complain about it.

Go Tiges. Hopefully a few injury cards fall our way and our 2nd half of the year shows improvement, particularly from those who will be our future.

Fantastic post mate!!!

Thanks smasha.

Ya know, I don't want people to get the idea I (and I think I speak for some others here) can't handle negative posts. If people think Pettifer, Gaspar, Krak, PBo, Tambling, etc should be delisted/traded then fine. I've suggested as much before about Fleming, Weller, Morrison, Jackson and Moore. If people think GM or TW should be sacked or their actions questioned - no worries. I just wish we could do it without the wild carry on. Makes me think I'm reading an anti-RFC forum sometimes, and I started this thread just to point that out as my own observation.

Hmm ... i think so. Might nearly be time to raise your bat for 100 mentions of that one rosy. On this we can be in total agreeance! ;)

I DON"T CARE much for this thread.

But someone else out there doesn't mind reading a bit of a dummy spit about others having a dummy spit as It made this weeks inside footy.

::)

there were a lot of good replies to this that may have been worthy.

although I think the post was bad well done Hopper.
