I like what I see-Krak and Tiv's rankings today

Have only watched to 3/4 time so far, but the thing that stood out like the proverbial, was that Krak had his best game getting front and sq.  This has been my biggest disappointment with him in the past.  Why he wasn't under Richo's feet week in week out is a puzzle to me.  Maybe the penny has finally dropped?  What he does off the ball playing in starvation corner is as important as what he does on the ball.

Tivvs, well he did OK.  You kick a couple of goals and your ranking has to elevate.  The one he slotted from the boundry could just have easily been centred to two players front and sq of the goal sq.  Nasty ankle roll, could just have easily been broken given the circumstances.  Still question his decison making, got away with busting a couple of soft tackles that made him look better - wouldn't have escaped these against Melbourne or Adelaide - they would then be turnovers and his ranking could just have easily been mediocre - but you can only beat who you play!

How good was Foley though!!!!!!   As good a game as he's played.  Whether he'd get the same latitude against say the Swannies????  But all you can do is get the ball and deliver - and he did that - beautiful pass to Richo! We are not used to seeing someone hit the target like that in recent years!

Geez big on the what-ifs. Really who cares about the rankings? These are just a mechanical method of judging and open to scrutiny. From the game I viewed Tivendale played one of his best games of the season. His passing for a change was exceptional, and 7 inside 50s with a number hitting the target. Probably too little too late but credit where credits due.

The conclusion that I draw from Champion Data's ratings is that one is extremely well rewarded for kicking a goal.

I would be grateful if someone could remind me how Champion Data award their rating points.

How many points for a goal?
How many points for a goal assist?
Etc.

I think a goal is 9 points for memory, ineffective kick is 1pt - effective is more.  Didn't see the game, but someone like Barry Hall ended up with 8pts on the weekend.

Obviously not you Goody, but that doesn't make them less valid to those who care for them.  Frankly I'm not a big wrap of them either - they certainly don't replace seeing the game for having a better appreciation of it.  Hence the reality check in my thread, what you choose to call "what ifs", and there were only a couple so I wouldn't say i was big on them - perhaps another read might put it in context again ;D But thanks for the critic anyway!

My point was that his ranking was good but don't expect the same against better equiped oppositions.  (For what it's worth, i used to be a big wrap for Tivvers and would like nothing more than to see him fulfil my earliest expectations of him, but one has to face footy's brutal realities ;))

Good games by those two boys.
When Tivendale came off in the 3rd quarter he looked like he broken his ankle........but i think he got away with just rolling it.

Very lucky boy.

3 popular targets around here were good today: Stafford, tivendale and krak'r: all got on the score board - well done lads. :clap

Richo is an extremely difficult forward to crumb off IMO Pharace...I think the major difference was that Krak had a genuinely positioned (goalsquare) FF to crumb off.

Agree if he was under Richo's feet he would spend half the game at 30kmh on the wing.

LOL...yep, you can imagine his thinking Bill...'which boundary line should I be on'...a bit like the goalkeeper guessing which way the penalty shot will go before it is kicked.

Also if he was under Richo's feet he would suffer severe contusions and lacerations.

We played Carlton remember, not a top side, geez lets resign Tivendale for another 2 years like we did when we resigned Hall and Rodan on a pointless whim which is now a huge mistake and a stumbling block for draft depth and development cos thes hacks have to be kept or paid out.

I'd love to see the day when Tivendale plays a great game when we lose, he's never in the best players when we've lost which means he is a frontrunner.

Add Krak to that mix.

We have a few players like that, as do all teams. They have a role to play and can turn a game when on song. The in and under players need skilfull runners to get the ball out to. Id like to know how we played in the losses. I've posted my opinion before that Tiv is very good when we're fast and attacking but out of his element a bit when we're defensive and chip it around.
The Carlton game suited Greg's style of play and he did very well, as he did earlier in the season before we went defensive. That's the style I expect to see more of from the team in future. It's a shame for Greg our style of play in recent years has been very negative.
