Those in the media, no matter what their field are far from experts on the topics they report on.
The leading footy brains are employed in football departments around the country! The dopey buggers that aren't good enough to be directly involved are picking their top 100 players every year and making a mock of that, along with just about every other footy topic out there.
Look at horse racing as another classic example. If you picked up the leading horse racing paper, say "The Sportsman", and selected the horses tipped by their 'experts', you'd be broke inside a fortnight. More scary is some of the reasons they give for their selections! Horse racing experts aren't putting their selections in the media, they're punting professionally and spending the rest of their time sipping pina-coladas from under palm trees!
Economics reporters are even more scary because they are almost as bad as the 'economic experts' that are running the country, and thats really REALLLLYYYY scary! The real experts are employed by large multi-national companies! They ain't reporting in papers, and they aren't wasting their time with the philosophies of John Maynard Keynes for their respective leaders in office! (not that there's anything wrong with JM Keynes philosophies! They were great for their time and for the environment, but they ain't going to work now in the current environment)
What other section of the paper can i pick on? Ah yes the funnies! If they were really funny.......................
