I couldn't help but notice how quickly the commentators very quickly forgave the big JB unit for his critical miss. Luckily for the Lion's sake (and most of Victoria), Adcock managed to snap that goal and the Lions managed to hang on.

Even last week the amount of media about Richo's couple of early misses (he should have kicked 7 according to many) was omnipresent. I watched (too) much footy last weekend and I really didn't notice that much difference about Richo's kicking over the last 3-4 years relative to the other forwards. Lloyd ,Fev and Franklin all miss similar shots on about the same frequency over this time frame, although I think they kick more difficult goals more often.

I think because of the way Richo reacts for everyone to see, and when he misses, he misses badly we as an audience react to his misses more than any other footballer. Is my head screwed on wrong? or is everyone's RAS (reticular activating system) looking out for the Richo behind or miss? (not his bum).

(And note doesn't even get mentioned in Realfooty articule (they love Browny) -> http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/brown-always-going-to-be-a-winner/2008/03/29/1206207431066.html)

If Adcock hadn't kicked the winning goal I reckon Brown would have faced criticism, same with Richo.

It was hilarious to hear, what's that dork's name again? that's right, MacAvaney drooling over his pronouncement that Carey "never" missed shots such as the one Brown put away minutes before the miss.

Brown may yet prove to be the better player IMO. And Carey missed plenty.

I reckon by the end of his career Brown will be regarded as better than Carey IMO.

I remember Carey missing a set shot in the goal square.

Revisionists like McAvaney don't believe you, Jukes. Anyway history shows that Carey's mistakes were someone else's doing - Kelli Stevens must have put him off.

I thought young Brown did pretty well on him last night. Looks a very likely type. But he couldn't hold Jonathan Brown when the ball started coming in hard in the last quarter. Who can?

it has a lot to do with his reaction, how he goes off his nut sometimes.
although after the 2 he missed against carlton he didn`t react at all which was good.
and also he has a bit of an awkward style so that adds to it.
franklin and fev have beautiful kicking styles so when they miss it doesn`t look as comical.

he is less reliable than most full forwards though.

and if he done what JB did he would be hung out to dry.

fwiw, Richo's accuracy is 59% and Fevola's in 60%.

So Fevola will kick 1 extra goal per 100 shots.

What's Jon Brown's?
Pretty good set shot from my thinking and last nights misses were an aberration rather than the rule.
The guy is an absolute gun.
Richo's good but I'd have Brown ahead of him in my team any day of the week.

As a side note Cloke's kicking appears to have improved significantly.

That is interesting. I'd have thought anecdotally that Fev was further in front in terms of accuracy.

They'd both be a fair way behind Lloyd?
