If we're turning the corner we should thrash Essendon.

If we've made the improvements that everyone has claimed we have then this week should be a good old fashioned spanking. We've come up at the juicy odds of $1.38 when was the last time we were so short? The favoured margin is 60+ these are games we've dropped in the past when we're meant to be improving. Time to stand up and show that it is geniune and make some bold selections no bringing back Tivendale or Pettifer cause we might win stick with the youth policy.

Pretty much agree...

Thats why its a bigger game than many think

After watching the Tige's very closely for the last 5 week's, a 10 goal win should be had this Week.

Essendon are *smile* poor and now is the time to put the Boot on the Jugular, a big Win is needed to prove the last 5 weeks haven't been "Cloak and Dagger.

We are at least that much better than this Mob, time to sink the Boot in deep.

It's happened yet again, on all News reports tonight the focus was on Loyd (Autumn Leafs - because he falls like one) and Essendons insipid performances and now Loyd has challenged his players to step up!

Why does this happen on a weekly basis that the news target sides we are playing that week, to give them added incentive and motivation ???
Remember last year before that tradgic day against Geelong the media pressure put on Thompson the week we played them, then look what happened!!! :help

It wouldn't surprise me if Lucas plays this week and kicks 7 from outside 50m, not unlike Corey Jones and Milne who just rub their hands together with glee at the chance of playing us.
So much so, Corey Jones somehow cheated his way through a concussion test to play us and then kick 7 and has not done much since.
Also Milne last week, it was back to reality in that he made every mistake in the book against the Pies after winning the game off his own boot against us the week prior !!! why???? >:(

media articles may make a difference to a half decent team but essendon are crap.
it will fire them up for the first quarter maybe and that`s about it.

we just need to start well and we will crush them,if we don`t start well it may take us a long time to put them away, but we will definitely put them away at some stage.

i just hope we really rub it in if we get the chance.
a nice 70 - 100 point win would be very sweet.

Agreed. Stick with Youth. SHould win Comfortably. History dictates its a danger game. Lets start writing our own history. I was 9 weeks old when we won our last flag. The next 5 years is my time to shine!

I hate to admit it, but I have a bad feeling about this game. I worry our guys will not be mentally right after trying hard but falling short over the last 4 games. Richo is due to have an off game.....

God I hope I am wrong :-\

I'm with you Streak, These are the games that we usually lose.

Rowdydave.

If we can win 3 out of the next four, I reckon we are a big chance for finals !!!!! If we win all 4 we should make it with our run home !!!
Sydney is the key game, win that and were looking good

In the past we have struggled in situations where we should 'put sides away' or give them a 'royal flogging'. Quite often those games are the ones we drop in the final quarter when we are 'a sure thing'. However in my caution (we are only half win above them) I think what we showed against Freo proves that we are able to really kick a side when they are down.

I just hope we can win it, to really bury them would be pure joy!

crunch ball game?

Indeed.

We need to win and show we deserve to be respected within the AFL community, if we just get over the line or if we get done all will be forgotten about our recent efforts.

But, history shows over the past few years we manage to do well against Essendon, I personally think it will be a big turning point if we give them a big smack.

consaidering we are 2 wins with 14 to play, we would need 11 out of 14 to make finals a certainty. THats a big ask! 9-10th is expected. ANything higher is a bonus - or a loss, depending on how you look at it. Personally i would rather the boys get the finals expereince. finishing ninth and getting pick 8 is still worthwhile - prob just need to trade better with some moronic club that is prepared to trade their top 10 draft pick.... like freo or essendon!

We have actually a pretty good record against the Swans on their home patch. For some reason i,ve always felt we were not without a chance up there.
Against the Crows. At home we have a chance.
its possible we could be at 22pts at the half way mark of the season with a much easier 2nd half draw.

Wonder how many dives Greg Lagounis is planning for the evening? Perhaps the Bummers could set up a splash pool for him in their forward line. Half time entertainment would be Greg and the girls doing a little synchronised swimming display to keep the punters enthralled. Then after their refreshing dip, its back to being belted by the Tiges in a display of synchronised shellacking (I hope!!).

Too true Lethal Leigh. That is my concern- we rarely flog sides or put them away when we have control, no matter how good or bad we/the opposition are. Will be a big test on Saturday to pull their pants down and give it to them like they have to us so many times before.

here here - Keep a lid on it though. Now I'm no fan of the "Bummers", but they have a knack of firing up for the marquee games. Knights would probably be fired-up, and all we need is a slightly impartial umpire or three, and there's trouble. A thrashing I would love to see; a one-point victory would probably do just as well. Get those jackets spinnin'.
