Is anyone else worried about the attitide of some of our younger blokes? ie. Deledio, Polo, Hughes, Meyer, Connors. IMO they've got the type of attitude that they only play for themselves, and there is no team culture in them. I 100% totally hope I am wrong, but the signs ain't good.

On this topic, is there any possiblity that the players put in a dismal performance last night to spite Terry Wallace about the sacking of Gaspar? There is no way in hell a professional club can play like that.

Or am I just having too many nightmares? :hihi

The Bermuda Triangle is a place where ships and planes disappear, never to be seen again.

Richmond is the 'bermuda triangle for footballers'.....where young kids are drafted, with talent, skills, and a winning mentality...and as soon as they spend one season at Tigerland, their talent/skills/positivity is sucked out of them, never to be seen again.

There is no way Lids is as exciting and "gung ho" as he was in his first year.
JON had 10 possies yesterday...6 of them clangers.

People go on and on about we should have drafted Franklin instead of Bling.....trust me, if we did....people would be posting about this dud called Franklin, and questioning why we didn't draft this talented skillful little player called Tambling. ::)

Welcome to the "Tigerland Triangle".

The GASPAR Conspiracy

I'd like to put this to rest as I'm not sure it's been addressed yet. Who of you thinks that the performance last night was some kind of "protest" over the "treatment" of DG.? Some may be thinking it , some may suspect it, some may be able to disprove it categorically.

I say NO! Say it ain't so....

I replied on another thread that had a similar post.

If there is even the slightest hint or whisper that it could be true. Grab the likely ringleaders and sack them on the spot. No ifs, no buts. Player power is a cancer on a club.

You'd like to put it to rest, then go on and ask a question? ???

Re: The GASPAR Conspiracy

Ask a question?????? DO YOU THINK THAT LAST NIGHT'S PERFORMANCE WAS PRE-ARRANGED BY SOME PLAYERS AS A PROTEST AT THE TREATMENT OF DARREN GASPAR DURING THE WEEK? And does anybody have any information to formally lay such suspicions to rest? How's that?

If you where going to protest, i don't think you would go to the tune of a 157 point defeat. A big loss of 60-80 would be enough and it was far worse than that. I don't think any player in his right mind would want to be part of a defeat like that!! except maybe Kayne......... he seemed OK with it.

The Bermuda Triangle is a myth - go and check your facts. Just like your nitwit invention the Tigerland Triangle is also a myth.

The Tigerland Triangle has already made the skills of our players disappear quicker than a Big Mac in Ethipoia.....and its been going on for 20+ years....and that ain't no myth! ;)

If you haven't got your head/heart in a game of football at that level it could easily blow out.

Little doubt the players didn't come to play, their head space was somewhere else.
I'd say Gaspar's decision to quit on the verge of the game for the reasons he did, had at least some effect on the players mental state.

I hope he said those words to Kent Kingsley before he opened his mouth and talked to a hundred plus game player at our club.

Kent Kingsley will kill our young brigade if he comes in, he will take a spot and not allow our youngsters to develop at all. He needs the ass next.

I don't have any doubt at all that the Gaspar saga of last week did have a bearing on Sunday's performance.

A few points:

We (the supporters) are not privy to what is discussed behind the closed doors at the RFC, so we can only 'believe' the version that is put forward by one or two of the discussants and draw our own conclusions.

In hindsight if the RFC/Wallace was forwarding a 'youth policy' in 2007, Gaspar wouldn't have been signed up on a one year contract and Kingsley would not have been recruited at all – a couple of 18 year olds would have been. This could be viewed as a dubious RFC/Wallace policy position after 5 rounds in!

It is obvious that Darren was so upset/angry at the conversation that he tendered his resignation on the spot (or soon after when he had thought about his options).

I believe that if an AFL player only has a year long contract at the 'endish' of his career, they need to be prepared to take the good with the bad, i.e. if it's good - he's playing at the highest level and if he's bad - he's playing in the VFL. I am critical of Darren here as he is staying on as a mentor to assist in developing the young defenders at the club (maybe fulfilling an aspect of his contract?). I say this would have been a more worthwhile role if he continued playing with the ‘youngsters,’ either in the AFL or VFL.

Players would have spoken to Darren and he naturally talks back to them. The intra player discussion would have certainly revolved around a theme of disappointment and maybe uncertainty - reflected in how they all played on Sunday. Irrespective of good or poor form if Darren had stayed on – there wouldn’t have been the flogging we witnessed on Sunday evening!

As far as I'm concerned if the Gaspar sacking had anything to do with the loss we have bad cultural problems. Far better players than Gaspar have been told the kids will be picked before them at the end of their career. Far better players than Gaspar have been sacked mid season.

I have concerns that Gaspar was so shocked, if he really was, I have deeper concerns if there is any suggestion of other players being unhappy with his treatment, the old players running the club crap. If he had good powers of self assessment he would have retired end 06.

Great post garçon.

Gaspar's demotion was likely at some stage this season or he was kidding himself. His last season was always going to be as a depth defender if we had a full list to choose from.

It worries me that our team can be so easily affected by such issues.

I hope Wallace pulls a few players aside after last weekend's debacle and asks them some hard questions about how much they too want to be part of the future of the RFC. If they flinch in their desire, they too can follow Gaspar out the door.

I for one tend to agree with Liverpool. There is some sort of epidemic at Tigerland that stifles the development of otherwise excellent young players.

If it's not called the Tigerland Triangle then what SHOULD it be called? Tigernoma? Tigeric Plague?

If you disagree then what is your explanation for what has been happening for the last 20 odd years???
