I'm confused

According to many:-

1. Our list is full of duds
2. We delisted the wrong duds(officially and unofficially :( )
3. Every player available to trade from other clubs is a worse dud than our remaining duds
4. Our recruiters are duds
5. Wallace is a dud coach
6. We should have kept David Wheadon
7. Our captain and B&F is a dud
8. Our previous B&F is a dud who got 0 Brownlow votes in 2005....... thus proving he is a dud
9. Nine of our 11 wins this year were against dud teams
10. If we dont make the finals next year it will be a disaster

Is there any hope for us or should I just give up following the Tigers?

hayfever, this must be close the the post of the year. it really puts into perspective some of the things some people say here :clap

One game I always remember from Cogs was the Geelong one in 2003. The one where Chapman claimed the goal and the Tigers lost by a couple of points. Richmond were getting flogged and Leon Cameron was the only reason they were even in the hunt until the 2nd half when Frawley finally got his match ups right and put some of the fresh young guys off the bench and on the field. Cogs was one of them. I can remember him getting the ball out of the middle, pumping it forward at every opportunity and when he kicked a goal of his own coming out of the middle the crowd just went nuts. The man is all class and if he can get himself right physically imagine what the midfield can do with the likes of Deledio and Tambling feeding off the supply that he and Tuck can generate.

One game I remember Cogs really stepping up, was the 50+ points down against the Hawks, and coming back to win.
That was a good'un.

Honestly, in 2001, he was one player I thought would never make it.
It was the game against the Dogs, at the Dome...the one we won by 2 points, a thriller...Otto starred, Browny starred for the Dogs.
Cogs just looked slow and way out of his depth. Poor disposals, got caught with the ball a couple of times, and only had a handful of possessions.
Think he was dropped the following week, and he was on my list as 'delist at seasons end'... :-[ :-[ :-[
So more than happy to admit I was wrong, wrong, wrong on that one. :-[

Thanks Ian. There are times when I agree with Claw's criticisms about RFC but when I look for his and some others alternatives they offer very little.

The best we can hope for is logical, rational incremental steps like the last 2 years has delivered. Some examples:-

Shunt Frawley gracefully and get a coach who at least exudes confidence and football knowledge
Shunt Ottens, get Simmonds(even if we had to spread a 4 year offer over 5 years to stitch it up)
Shunt Fiora(too many soft outside receivers who jump at shadows)
Give Shane Tuck an opportunity to prove himself
Pickup P Bowden on the cheap

Of course there are those that "got away" like Fevola but it was very reassuring to know we were in there all the way trying and almost nailed it.

Agree with you Rosy re Cogs. Losing him this year was akin to when we lost Brown last year. It made a massive difference to our midfield.

Did it?

We'd already been smacked by 100+ twice and were well on the way to dropping the Hawthorn game when he left the field.

If Cogs has trade value the club SHOULD utilise it.

Far too injury prone.

Now I'm really confused. Against Hawthorn he was injured in the 3rd minute of the match  >:(

Prior to that game we had won 6 from 11 including beating Adelaide in Adelaide for the first time ever and the Cats at Geelong for the first time in yonks. The kid was in good form and playing well.

Ahh yes. Was thinking of the 2nd time he went off.

Still stand by the point that 2 of our worst poundings had come prior to him being injured though.

At the end of the day, we won most of the games we should have (With the obvious exception of the Hawthorn game) and lost most of the games we should have. Regardless of whether Mark was on the field or not.

If Mark has any trade value left, and we can improve our team structurally by moving him on ... Then we must look at it. Not get caught up in the sentiment of how much we may like the kid.

The only question is "will he recover fully?".

If yes, then we need him in the team. If not, then he is unfortunately of little value to any football team.

What is the latest medical prognosis?
