decisively won every remaining game by playing the kind of footy we displayed yesterdayl.

if you could categorically tell me that pick4 will be a better pick than pick8 then yes lets tank and get pick4 but thats not the case so i'd feel more optimistic about our future if this scenario came true than say, losing our remaining games but getting the better draft pick.

i want to see improvement across the whole footy division. Skills, Confidence, Gameplan, Teamwork, Coaching. and that means, WINNING!

Crystal ball time? ;)

We have played some captivating passages of football this season.
There's no doubt signs that we are on the up regardlesss of where we finish on the ladder.

I read that we had 11 players in that side yesterday with less than 50 games to their name. 8)

claws crystal ball says probable wins against melb fremantle these two teams will be vying for pick 1 with wce. 50 /50 games against ess ad.
and probable losses against geel haw and brisbane. even if we win 5 of the last 7 its unlikely we will make the finals.if we do it could happen that we dont beat one top 8 side in making it.
imo adelaide and brisbane may struggle to keep their spots. i think stkilda will finish 6th. north 7th brisbane 8th

Ah, pretty sure that if we won every remaining game we'd be comfortably in the eight with 13.5 wins ::)

for all the clever dickies, heres another way of looking at it then...

if we win alot of games convincingly playing the football we played yesterday and finished ninth how would you feel about that ::)

OK blx got you now. I agree with you; would rather play good footy and win games thereby develop a winning culture. Success breeds success.

If we finish 9th, which I think we will, then the cost of the last 3 minutes against Footscray and the close loss against the Aints will teach our young guys the meaning of making every contest count and will see us into final series, and hopefully a Premiership or three over the next decade.

Those two results knocked the stuffing out of our guys and they are well on the way back to finishing the 2008 season on a top note which will set up our 2009 season.

Agree, and if Joel Bowden had played both those games we would have won

Essendon who smashed Brisbane on the w/e is a 50-50

Yet Brisbane at TD is a probable loss? ???

We absolutely want to finish the year strongly, even if we still miss the finals. Taking a look at the last 15 years, there are many teams that have finished off a year strongly, finished 8th or 9th and kept on moving the following year.

1994 - Tigers went from bottom three to 9th, on the way to winning 11 of the first 12 in 1995

1995 - Brisbane moved from bottom four to 8th, preliminary finalist in 1996

2000 - Tigers went from bottom four to finish 9th, then went on to reach the top 4 in 2001

2001 - Pies climbed from 15th to 9th (11 wins), Grand finalist in 2002.

2003 - Saints put about five or six together at the end of the year to just miss the finals, won the preseason comp plus their first 10 games in 2004

2005 - Doggies went from bottom three to ninth, then off to a flyer in 2006

2006 - Hawks up from bottom three, won their last four games in 06 and on to finals in 2007.

Well Done TO :clap

Hope you are ready for the contrarians though - I can hear them beavering away to find the false dawn theory as well ;D

Still think we will struggle to finish better than 13th, maybe 12th now given the "battle" at the bottom of the ladder. Young sides are notorious for inconsistency - as evidenced by our bursts and busts durin games right now. BUT, I'd rather we had the bursts and the busts, than no bursts at all - Agree with ya Oldie - I like the inertia right now!
