He hasn't replied to mine either.

It's all a bit too ridiculous for words.  How do we even know the e-mail from Ashley Browne is genuine if he doesn't have the courtesy to reply?

Several journos are members of PRE and/or read our site.  They even contact me for comments and information on occasions.  Thankfully they're not as precious about their articles being posted.  It's not as if we try to plagiarise articles because we're sticklers for links to be included.

HKTiger I realise this is a diversion from the thread topic but this has been on my mind all day.  I really can't understand why you all but accused me of fabricating the fact Peter Toby encouraged the reporting of other sites.  As shown in the link I posted there was in fact encouragement to report other sites to Sportal.
Maybe I look at things differently to others, but the way I see it was that they were asked to stop posting articles so they figured it needed to apply to all sites, not just them. I don't see anything wrong with that. It could have simply been coincidence that you received an email from Ashley Brown first, I would suggest that email went to numerous sites and not just Richmond ones. I don't see the big deal personally.

Zero game the quote of mine you've used was asking HKTiger why he all but accused me of being dishonest when he must have been aware I was spot on.  Whether he replies or not isn't that relevant now but if he'd posted his comments on another site and I couldn't defend myself people could well have believed I was fabricating facts.  That's clearly not the case.   ;)

The only "big deal" that led to further discussion is the fact HKTiger denied the existance of that request.

My concern is considering previous treatment of PRE on that site, combined with the request to report other sites, that there is certainly a possibility that there are people who'd like to see PRE in trouble. I could post heaps more examples from Jungle Jim's secret section to back that doubt up but can't be bothered. There's no doubt Jungle Jim has issues with our site whatever his reason.

If we don't get things spot on, or accidentally miss an article or two here and there, would we be reported for it or not.  Who knows but the chance, however slight,  puts more pressure on our mods to get things right.

I'm sure it does apply to all sites but blowed if you'd get me suggesting PREnders dob those in that don't comply.  I'm more likely to say good luck to them.  ::)

I'll move this thread to the Feedback board and will update when we have further information.

I have to say, I do understand Sportal's stance to some extent. They are an internet based company which need hits for advertising revenue and the like. If people post full articles, they simply aren't getting those hits. A teaser and a link would work, I think for both parties. I can see why this might be annoying to some people, but Sportal is a business and needs to do everything it can to continue to be profitable and grow.

These forums are definately hard to keep prim and proper.

I remember the Sportal Forum having its own moderating problems when people kept naming a certain 3 players who we all know who they are anyway.

I beleive this was one of the reasons amongst many which made them close down their forum.

Probably not, but was this about the time you received your Letter Rosy. Sour grapes maybe fotr this and many other sites, doing so well. Moderating on that site left a lot to be desired.

If these sites make money for hits to their pages, PRE should get a kick back if a link from PRE sends someone to their page.

They owe PRE money ;D.

Sounds to me like a bunch of nerds with too much time on their hands. Or too much computer time and not enough real world time.

I thought the whole point of website was to promote cross traffic? Seems precious and odd.

I'll leave on the DyerTribe board for a few more days seeing there are still articles being posted here. Please put all articles on the Journo's board or the board relevant to the article if general or off-field etc discussion.
