A lot of heat about our recruiting decisions and why we haven't played more kids but there are solid reasons.

First Raines Polo and Foley have worked out well and they are developing nicely . Lids and Richie were no brainers and are approaching 50 and 40 senior games respectively.

As to the others Luke broke an arm and put him behind a year. Got a taste last year and is improving this year - Jury is out but he is being played.

JON got a taste last year. Had injury setbacks - shoulder and leg - needs more time to develop but likely to get some game time on a wing of HF this year.

Casserly plagued by groin and leg problems - cant get on the park - Apparently close to selection a number of times before injury re-occurence.

Will T - hit the jackpot and then a mega knee injury. Things would be different if he now had 30 games under his belt as a mobile tall down back.

White - had a taste showed a bit.

Peterson - OP.

Jack - injured round one.

Edwards - looks the goods.

Connors - where is he?

Hughes - had a taste did OK but not hard enough at the contest - time in the twos to rectify - has all teh skills.

The only dispaointments are the Ottens twins. One can get and cant use it - the other can use it and cant get it - (good replacement for OTTO who now cant get it or use it)

Pattison needs time but will need to improve a lot - Cam Wood looks like the better choice.

Meyer I like - terrific skills and feel for the game WHEN the ball is in his hands - but cant find it ATM.

Even Schulzy has missed about two seasons through injury and is only now starting to show some signs.

No write offs yet - but Patto a worry( why cant he get off the ground and why does he cover the ground like Mr Burns - Is he looking for loose change?)

So if the injury gods give tiges an exemption for the rest of the season we should see some exciting kids strut their stuff - not much TW or anyone can do if the kids through maturity or injury just aint ready. Hope Edwards has a good one tomorrow and Tuck out Edwards in is the first step on the long journey.

Of the kids you have mentioned Lamby I have one superstar,1 not up too it,1 honest an reliable,an then a heap of POTENTIALLY very good with a But

I really dont anyone is bagging the kids so much as the older so called leaders.

I really hope that someone has the balls to make some tough calls and end some careers before those that have started yet end.

I realy dont think Richardson, *smile*, Krakouer, Johnson, Tivendale and even Bowden are long term propositions now. They continually look disinterested and seem to lose concentration. I would love to see the hardworking kids playing, stuffing up and hitting back even harder next opportunity.

As I said elsewhere they may mess up but wont let you down!

watching mark murphy today l think he has gone past deledio is it because he plays onball every game
I saw 3 incidents form Lids last night that probally has encouraged me more then anything I have seen in a long time,he twice demanded bling to lead hard into space an then hit him lace out he also did the same with Richo he MADE him lead to the spot,I rate Lids higher then any other kid in the AFL an we are really starting to see the genuine leadership qualities of this kid,he is starting to make things happen.

Stats are not everything but Lids had 23 touches last night an spent considerable time been dragged back to the square by his opponent an also resting in our square when the ball got nowhere near him.
I think its the biggest myth that Richmond supporters have, that Lids dosent work hard enough

Hes a gun that Murphy too ,Hey Casper

they are both guns but l think deledio should be spending the majority of his game in the middle

Yeah maybe but on two occasions in the second Lids took the safe oprton rather than taking charge - first he was on the wing with Wakelin 10 yards inside him. Schulz was a good 15 yards behind his opponent at CHF tracking back. Lids could have had a bounce and popped into the square where Schulz was tracking back but took the safe option and delivered wide to the pocket where Jay marked but missed the goal. Later on he was in the same position and just chipped the ball over the heads of acouple of tiges and OOB. In year 1 he would have torn up the track and had a shot or spotted up better.

Re the Lids to Tambling pass I have a different take. everytime Lids or Tambling had the ball, the other usually led hard and fast and was honoured. i think they have made a pact to take the responsibility themselves because our senior players are so clueless. It was great to see and long may it continue!!

I don't think its a myth, just a case that he has worked a lot harder this year and is showing the results.

I just can't believe he isn't playing 4 quarters in the guts!!! :don't know

I am going to agree with CC, Lids in the opening rounds has been terrific, running and harassing but more importantly he is hitting targets the majority of the time. I also see him taking on more responsibility i mean the kids still 19, it’s like he feels it’s his time to take charge, i really see it, especially against the swans last week.
Time for TW to put start him in the center and leave him there.

I must be the only one who believes this team has a future. Bling and Lids have been great this year and will continue to show more as the year rolls on and be our future. McGuane, *smile* and Polak have all been positives ( so much for a lack of future KKP's if you add Reiwoldt, Thursfield and Hughes in the next few years), Foley, Raines, Moore, Newman, Hyde and even Krak have been good. When the next group come through ( Connors, JON, Casserrley, Edwards), these guys will add to that current young group and be our core experienced bunch.
Keeping in perspective, the teams that have beaten us aren't exactly playing poorly ( Carlton was on a roll, Pies close to beating the Weagles over there and Sydney justed pipped us).
May be my glass is half full???!!!!

Yep, I, too, really loved the way Lids dictated the play to Richo and Richie. I agree with others that he should see more time on the ball, though Wallace is obviously working to a plan for a reason. I think Lids' development could only be accelerated by more time in the thick of the action.
