Injury Report - Season 2023

There's another supporter website which said 6 weeks ago that he'd been ruled out for the year. The person was allegedly a family friend of Gibbo.
It was reportedly being stage managed to not have all the bad news delivered at the same time re Lynch etc.

Notice the article doesn't say he re-injured it, only that he was feeling discomfort when they upped the training load. If the other site is to be believed
this was no surprise to anyone at the club.

After not playing for 12 months, everyplayer is much more prone to soft tissue injuries.
How so exactly. He hasn’t done anything but rehab for 8mths. If he can’t come good after 8mths of rehab he is either cooked or his rehab has been completely *smile* up.

Except Caesar had seen him joining in training for the first time only a week or so ago. Wouldn’t have happened if he was hurt again.

Could it be a case where its not reinjured but the club don't think he has sufficient fitness /training load to play AFL?
So now he is training and building his strength without the impact of actual games?

Gibcus's hamstring will be right for 2024, we got Lukey boy Meehan working on it...

PLAYERINJURYESTIMATED RETURN
Mate Colina Back 6-11 weeks
Josh Gibcus Hamstring Season
Tom Lynch Foot Season
Kaleb Smith Ankle Season
Updated: August 1, 2023

Early prognosis

Richmond had no new injuries from the loss to Melbourne, but announced Gibcus has been ruled out of any action this season. Toby Nankervis has served his three-match suspension, while Jayden Short and Jacob Bauer are available to face the Bulldogs. – Howard Kimber

So that’s Smith, Gibcus, Tarrant and Colina out for the entire season and Lynch for all but 4 games. I know of these players are more valuable than others but to be 5 players short on your list for the whole season ain’t good.

Good news on Colina. 6 to 11 weeks. Should he back in time for the AFLW finals!

Can you get injured while being on the injury list?
Because Colina mustve tripped over the injury list.
Stop with these *smile* experiments. We can't develop kids that have played footy all there lives where not turning this bloke into a footballer.

Woeful management. Complete overhaul needed. We’ve not invested enough in this space.

I'll say it again we took a short cut with this appointment hiring within a bloke under Burge who was basically let go last year. It's been sugar coated all year.

This is not my opinion but it's what generally happens after long stints ,
Well known in afl circles.

After seeing what port have done you still have to wonder how much say the football department can have over medical/fitness and conditioning in making decisions to play on or not. (And has this contributed to josh and toms outcomes) - especially with a junior burger in the role vs very experienced footy department.

Just watching their history and geez port have some form.

No different to any workplace where there is always friction between technical divisions who usually want to slow down and operations who want things to operate.
