Injury Update

Nathan spoke at the Club80 function last night.
He spoke about the pain in his leg, and it wasn't from the rod.
The frustrating news is that because he was keen to be back playing by round 1 this year, the bone hadn't fully healed, which was causing the pain. He said with hindsight, he would've taken it a bit easier, and let it fully heal. It's not going to be a problem long term, as it will eventually heal (this year), and as Terry has said, he will be back 100% by 2007.

My reckoning is that they might wait until the rod can be removed.

The problem might very well be the abrasive nature of the rod on the muscle tissue around it. Especially for someone who does alot of running, like Brown.
What abrasive nature of the rod it run up the centre of the bone not the outside.

I can't recall exactly the plate/rod setup for NGB but in my experience the rod (in the femur) does bind up where it comes out of the bone. It feels like the bone is out of shape and is catching the muscle.

NGB has some screws too IIRC and that part of the leg does't have much flesh so I fully expect that it's bothering him.

I've just read Shers's report. Seems it's the break that's the problem.

Any rate, the injury will have robbed him of almost three years of form by the time he's fully recovered, you'd expect. The years from 27 to 30. The best years. :vomit

OTOH it may prolong his career. He'll have missed thirty games by the time we see him near fit again. Gives him plenty of time to recover from whatever injuries he'd been quietly nursing.

Physically Browns injury will heal, no doubt about that, I'm worried about his mental healing.

well 7 weeks ago i hurt my shoulder playing indoor cricket. i found out 4 days ago i have a fracture in my humurus bone where it joins the shoulder. i'm very lucky i didn't rip the tendon off the bone which would have required surgery.

my injury update is that i'll be out for the rest of the indoor cricket season.

Hopefully one of the young guns will be able to step up Ian4.
