PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

One definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a differnent result.

Each year I feel the surge of the footy season - each year I get excited about the big Tiger games

and

For the best part of the last 2 decades I have become the butt of all my mates football jokes.

"Hey your Tigers are going to have another good season"

"Hey better tell your captain after he wins the toss which way you're kicking"

"Hey whats shorter than an English batsmen's stay at the batting crease? The Tigers premiership chances at the beginning of each season!"

"Well we all know that our team is going to have at least one win this year - when we play the Tigers!"

"Where are you holidaying in September?"

Even bloody Essendon Supporters are giving it to me this year.

I ask myself - why? Why do I put myself through this each year?

I have the chance to take over a retail business that will require me to work 7 days a week for the next 9 to 12 months - to kick start some growth into the business. Because of my age I did not want to do it and another reason was because I would miss my mighty Tigers on Fox. Now I feel that miserable that I don't think that matters.

I have lived and loved the Tigers since 1963 and they have given me some high times - late '60s early '70s and of course 1980 - but this has been the most prolonged downer I have ever felt - buggered if I know how those Bulldog supporters get through it.

Either the Tigers have to change or I have to take the importance of the Tigers out of my life - for right now I feel I am just existing not living. I have just simply had enough of being the fall guy for footy jokes - particularly when I am so passionate about my footy.

Any advice - anybody?
