Inside football

Still a big waste of money one small bit about Jay and the only other bit is saying how we are doing well to persevering with Glimour. Great report last time i looked we delisted him.

When Inside Football was first released, around 1977, at $1, it was mandatory reading by everyone. Everybody bought a copy, and we'd all be sitting around reading it.

As soon as the price jacked up over a $1, one person bought it and we all shared it around.

Nowerdays, I buy maybe one a year. The end of season/predraft edition.

I bought that paper every week religiously for 20 years since I was a kid but with all the information available on the internet these days I haven't bought one for 3 or 4 years now. The quality of the paper peaked about 5 years ago and they've been cutting costs on production but continued to hike the price. Sign of the times for print media I reckon'. :-\

Correct, by Monday everything you need is at your finger tips and available at any time you are available, don't have to run to the news agency. Just walk to your study. We just don't understand how mauch the internet has changed modern society. It is amazing.

I only buy it if theres a good amount of RFC content, couple of times a year, there was a brilliant G Raines interview that was about 4 pages long in 2004, I look out for big feature like that. Generally its a waste of money.

What of waste of space this 'weekly' is. So much potential, all it requires is deeper analysis and more in depth stories than the lowest common denominater rubbish the daily's serve up - shouldn't be that hard.

who cares about inside football. we don't care about the other 15 teams. we need a newspaper/magazine's called "inside richmond"

Yes, there was some Tiger news in Inside Football today. The big news is that Ty Zantuck has just signed up with Roxburgh Park in the Essendon District League, reuniting with former team mate and Richmond 'legend' Jon Rombotis who is coaching the club.

I find this so sad, here is a guy with a ton of ability who had the potential to be crowd favourite with the tiger faithful, who is reduced to playing B Grade football with an outer suburban club. Maybe it will dawn on Ty when he's being sniped and smacked around at some pot holed, second rate outer suburban football ground that things could have been a whole lot better for him if he had chosen to channel his substantial talents into an arena that they belong. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

In the early 80's I would purchase 'The Inside Footballer' every week, just to get my 'hit'.  I remember my brother and I would fight over who would read it first, I would always win because he was much younger than me. :P

I've still got the cover of IF from our '80 premiership and many of the articles and photos etc from that edition. They are tucked faithfully away inside a scapbook, in storage, back in Oz.
Growing up in Canberra we were starved of footy news and IF was one of the only media sources we had. The Wednesday night it came out, my old man would drive me all over the suburbs after footy training to find a rare copy, just so I could get my fix on what was happening with the Tiges. Looking back on that makes me pretty proud of my Dad :hearton.

For those that are interested....Don't bother about Inside Footballs Tipping Competition, there isn't one due to lack of Sponsorship.

I'm surprised Inside Footy is still around with all the info you can get off the net.

I used to get it religiously back in the mid 1980s. It is interesting to look back at some of the articles and see some of the "big" names that were linked to Richmond. I remember a heading "Big John a Tiger in 1985" referring to John Ironmonger coming over. i wonder what happened there?

Haven't bothered for many years now.

mb's right. You can get loads of the Net these day's.But to me, you can't beat a Hardcopy.....I dunno!! ???
