On afl.com.au there is a poll on whether clubs should be able to trade picks and players to move up selections in the draft. A resounding 73% have said yes so far. Just wondering what everybody here thinks?

Sorry, this means you would be able to trade say, a week or two before the draft, or maybe even on draft day?

Yeah I like it too. Adds a little more excitement to draft day, although you don't want to make the game too Americanised.

Sounds like a good idea, but not to sure about trying to finalise a deal with five minutes to go before the draft was about to start. Just be a bit to distracting watching Miller running around trying to figure out which way down the corridor to lodge the paperwork.
Just as an extra side thought, what would be wrong with say trading future draft picks, though not to far ahead.
As a suggestion you could look at the trade we did with Geelong for Otto.
If the cats had been unable to find a suitable trade to get the additional first round draft pick we required then the offer could have been their first pick in the year of trade and their first pick the following year regardless of ladder position.
