Interweb Experts - Ignore Or Embrace?

Well, after a lot of reading there is finally something that prompts me to post something.

First I should like to ask Phantom: 'antiqued'? surely antiquated is more correct.

But, nit-picking aside, Phantom's point #3, with which I agree wholeheartedly.

And why stop there with these modern examples? For too long we have suffered a brain-drain of massive proportions, losses of experienced thinking players have been going on for quite a while.

We do have to begin thinking about the future and cultivating our own culture. As Phantom said we already have veterans who will not be with the club for much longer as players.

Perhaps we should be grooming these people to see if there is anything we can use to the club's benefit after their playing days are finished.

For those having a go at him - stop now - you are not qualified to make those calls and if you are, would you mind showing me the evidence.

What are Phantom's qualifications? Played? Coached? Administered? Volunteered? Observed?

Or yours for that matter?

Qualifications are irrelevant to this discussion anyway. It's based on how much credence the RFC would give a forum such as this when making decisions. I would hope it would be minimal. I don't want the RFC making decisions based on faceless, nameless amateurs like myself, and those that feel they need to be seen as having some "worthwhile knowledge".

I don't know, I'd like to think posting on the internet doesn't automatically exclude people that could be suitably qualified talent.

Depends what the decisions are for Freezer. There's no way they'd select a player based on comments on the forum but they have told me how they appreciate the input they get from PRE and there have been many instances when something, for example wrong information on their website, has been discussed on PRE and suddenly things have been rectified. They have also phoned and e-mailed me on many occasions in regard to opinions on PRE. They'd be silly not to really considering the diverse range of posters from so many walks of life.

Not sure why everyone is so obsessed with the information in Phantom's posts being used. He's made it clear, and GM has mentioned it to me, that he provides info to the club personally rather than as posts on PRE.

1. There does seem to be this mystical veil between the inner & outer sanctums. I believed it when I was younger but the last few years have, for me, clearly torn it down.

Look at our own Club President. Gary was a self-confessed mad young Tiger supporter who was lucky enough to gain the means to be able to use his professional skills to gain his role. He still doesn't see himself any differently to when he was younger, except that HIS influence is now much greater.

So the question now becomes what differentiates between a young supporter who makes good and becomes Club President from one who doesn't get that opportunity. Personally, I'd like to hope that some kid who posts or reads PRE can go on to become a future Club President.

Right, back from tea with Greg, Gary and Terry. The new chap from Melbourne couldn't make it but sent his apologies, as did Alan Bond and Rudi Webster. It was the least they could do to be honest.

Let me be clear about the following - it is not unique to Richmond and for what its worth I think Gary Cameron is doing a good job, particularly after he paid for dinner.

Generally speaking the difference, in terms of becoming president, is whether the young kid makes enough dough and contacts to be able to throw a bit of money into the place, hang around the upper coterie groups and away you go. The other route is to be a former player (often coming in to leadership after a club crisis).

By the way, whoever suggested I'm a troll, I'm not going anywhere.

LLR (will explain that some other time)

As most of your post was quite obviously designed to humiliate another poster I'd say that's a fairly presumptuous statement.

Messages shouldn’t threaten or humiliate any other person

So LL Hernaman,
Why can't you post as LLH, rather than LLR?
Why wait till another time?

Just in case I get censored out of the joint, at least they will say "we never got the full Long Lost Hernaman story" my dear Shers.

Disco, if you purport to be a football recruiter, you need a pretty thick skin. See for example the countless posts about Greg Beck, Greg Miller and so on. This is nothing more flapping round with a bit of wet lettuce.

Quite correct Growl.

Be that as it may LLR, this site has rules that we must all abide by for the sake of other people's enjoyment, among other reasons. You are certainly entitled to your opinions but you are required to express them within those rules.

Time for this thread to be locked. It's pushing the rules on a couple of levels and unfortunately appears to be more aimed at one person rather than a general discussion about the value of information posted on Internet forums.
