I'm not just talking about the Ben Cousins saga.
But nearly 30 years of perennial failure, let down after let down and just what the Cousins' situation symbolised - false hope - it must be an issue at some stage.
Every club has supporters of varying levels of passion.
Over the years I have heard Richmond supporters threaten to stop supporting the club and not buy memberships again etc, and until now I have told myself "they're not real supporters, who needs them..."
I was born in the 80's and all my life I have heard about the massive Tiger crowds of the 70's.
While there is no debate that we have a lot of supporters, as supporters are simply disappointed time and time again (and again), is there a genuine risk of fans dropping away?
I've been listening to SEN for hours today and literally hundreds of membership numbers have been handed in - people who have been members for 10+ years have said they're giving up, they've had enough of the this rabble.
This mighty Tiger Army isn't as strong as it was in the 70's. Maybe we are a sleeping giant and some of these fans will come flocking back once Deledio and Cotchin are winning us finals.
But fans are dropping away, to what degree I don't know.
What are your thoughts? If this whole youth policy results in only 2-3 finals series over the next 10 years, will that be the last straw for many more fans? Is it possible for us to be in St Kilda's position in 10-15 years?
I only want to see the massive Tiger Army from the 70's that I've only ever heard about.
