Is Browny the new Aker?

Let's hope not, sometimes he does say some pretty cringe worthy things but he is not a problem to anyone but himself.

Understand his problems and the way he feels but these comment was never going to gain him any fans or cahngethe popular view on this topic.

For once I am in complete agreement with Claw....IF a steroid can help with a serious injury it should be considered. IT Would in fact be EASY to police and as someone else said it would also be easy to ensure that the player got no other benefit other than the best chance of recovery for the playing career and life after that.

We are not talking about prolonged use and we are not talking about cheating. We are talking about a players physical well being...Claw is right a player should be able to sue, If they are denied the best possible medical recovery they can get.

Scoop ...I think you are wrong to suggest that we should not raise opinions becuase they are unpopular and likely to loose. That kind of thinking has us all hiding under the bed because puritanical moralism is currently triumphant in the world.

I think IAN 4 is right however that Browny should have got some medical facts behind him first.

Isn't what Brown advocated very similar to what Alistair Lynch was allowed to do? Brown did not suggest using steroids to gain an advantage, only to allow a player to be able to recover quicker and do what they would have been able to do before the injury. Lynch's argument was that the drugs he took for CFS didn't enhance his ability, they allowed him to play in the manner he would have played if he didn't have CFS.

We seem to have forgotten what it cost Justin Charles. It ended his career as he was never the same player after being banned for 16 months.

Wasn't the same player because of his suspension or because he had to stop cheating?

Should never have been allowed to run out for the club again after he was exposed as a cheat.

& yes, I disagree completely with Browny ;)

Brereton pretty much admitted on Ch 9 yesterday that he and Roberts kind of kept at Browny until they got the quote they wanted.
brereton said exactly the same thing as a player himself before being forced to quickly back pedal.
if you are 22 and have an injury that will end your career and have exhausted all options for recovery then surely steroid use would be allowable under strict independent supervision. i rckon a player could sue if forced out of the game because he wasnt allowed to get him self better.
any way steroids are used to build muscle mass but you still have to get in the gym while useing them. while under supervision players would not be allowed to use weights and all traces of the drug should be out of the system before being allowed to resume playing.and with constant monitoring and testing over the relative short time that would be needed to fix a health problem i really cant see a problem.

I agree.  But unfortunately becuase of the politics, it will never happen.  If I break my leg and the muscle wastes I can take steroids to get back to work faster, no worries.  For the foreseeable future it will stay a black and white issueand any comments like browns will be recieved with shock-horror.  I can see both sides.

(from memory I think Brereton went further than that, I remember him admitting that it was normal for skinny young players to get on the roids over summer, that was 15 or so years ago)

Dunno if anyone saw the ch & sunday sports show. They were asking everyone to comment on NBs comments and it was shock-horror etc. Then the had Fitzsimmons and some other Union goose on and asked them, they both said "yeah I suppose that would be OK, it was a very bad break and he's a good player'. The hosts didn't know what to say.

is he really our saviour?
Barring injuries he could be.His Friday radio show seems to make plenty of controversy. So far he's cost us plenty but when on the field & fit has shown his class.

Browny?
Nah.....just thinks outside the square...anyone who reads between the lines knows that he means using something to "repair injuries"as opposed to"enhancing performance'.....
Very big difference in meaning there.....
Browny,s gonna be great....make no bones about it....rember how the tiges were travelling when he was in full flight?
Those 5 goals against the Pies in that last quarter?Kicking the winning goal to give the Tigers first win in Brisbane since jesus had a bit of tucker with the 12 disciples?
Not to mention all those brownlow votes in just a fistful of games.....
Just be patient with browny...that broken leg woulda felled superman......Browny CANT WAIT to get backk on the park and really help the tigers to more riches and glory....
And,for Anduril and those into Tolkien.....I reckon Browny is the Meriadock Brandybuck of the tigers!
Cheers! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Correct, therefore are no good for example ACL's - the actual ligaments or tendon material. No good for cartledge either.

Steriods do assist in bulking up supportive muscle mass to provide additional strength around the affected ligament.

I wonder how long before someone at the end of their career tries an Alissa Camplin type corrective surgery with a cadavar ligament for a final series.

jesus,Mary and st joseph ...a cadavar ligament?
A dead persons ligament?Ive heard of bein dead on ya feet but this really takes the buttered confection......
So thats what happened to Alyssa?A dead leg?
I tell ya darth tiger....theyll do ANYTHING in the name of sport eh!phew! :o

What does it matter he is a private citizen.

Browny needed to be more media savy in this case and learn to answer the question without answering the question.
All media outlets are looking for certain quotes, just have to learn how to say nothing in some circumnstances.

We must all forgive Browny. He was on No-Doz pills when he made the comments and the mouth was running faster than the brain.

Sick of hearing Browny does this and says that.
Its time the club face the facts. His recruitment has been a huge failure.
There are no guarantees at 29 that he will ever recover his past form.
With him and Richo as our key forwards, it will resemble a retirement village full of geriatrics with
colostomy bags!
He could even turn out to be another Paul Hudson!!
Its time the club thought long term, instead of teasing the supporters year in, year out with mediocrity!
He has a very limited future!!!
