Is Deledio carrying something?

i don`t think he`s lost any pace at all.
it`s just that he slows down and thinks about who he is going to kick it or hanball it to instead of just blazing away at full speed like some players do,white for example.

and lids doesn`t stand out much in games because he just does the high percentage team things and doesn`t try to do the impossible or spectacular.
for example he will get the ball, shoot off a handball, keep running hard to provide an option to get it again then kick it onto a teammate`s chest 40 metres away.
nothing spectacular, just good sensible quality football.

and not only high quality disposals, but high quantity too.
deledio has had 76 disposals in the past 3 games.

he`s going along very nicely thank you very much ;)

Yes but did you see when he ran blokes down? He forced about 3 holding the ball decisions yesterday.
No put downs from me, well done Lids.

Thank you i was just about to post to Dyer'ere the same thing, seems to have selective memory, chased down a freo player he got the free he kicked in the 50 arc and polak missed 40 out. Also 2 smoothers...Very polished game and apart from that one errant kick the rest hit their target.

Geez I wish I could see it as clear as that.

Yeah he oozes talent.

I just can't see hes that good yet.

C'mon U2, ive seen previous posts from u when it comes to Lids u do tend to have slight digs and i mean slight which ur entitled too, but as most would attest he's a class act, ave 25.3 disposals in his last 3 games and most important hitting targets by foot or hand. Doesnt panick when he gets the ball looks for the best option, thats a player that believes in his own ability, like pendlebury when he gets the ball he doesnt just hand it off always seems to have time up his sleeve and look for the best option....Bak on Lids another 8 hard ball gets.

I hardly noticed him in yesterdays avalanche against Freo. Was grumbling that he'd been quiet when they put up that he'd had 25 possessions. Just quietly going along doing his work and earning his keep but everyone expects him to be the number one rockstar in a TEAM game.

Run down several times from behind again today. Lost maybe three yards.

Got to be an injury of sorts, doesn't it?

Turned well. Can't be a groin. Had a chance from 50- went short. No raking kicks for the day.

His kicks, although short (by his standards) were spot on or freakish target wise. (One exception.) Maybe he's just lost three yards. Or four. Nup. Injured.

Yeah 1 or 2 times he did get caught but hey all players can get caught no matter how fast u are, the one on the wing when bling was right in front of him and lids got caught and handballed out to bling, that play bling should've put the block on or a shepard as lids was coming his way by doing that he would've left the pathway open for Lids.

Ok, i spoke to someone inregards to the pace issue that uve mentioned, still super fast but if there is a yard or 2 lost the reason is over the summer lids was told that he would be playing deep forward, he put on enormous size in the upper body and toosh, after RD 1 that exercise to play deep forward was pretty much thrown out the window.
I was further told that as the season progresses he will lose some kilos due to the amount of running and his reknowned pace would return.
Is playing more of an inside game but as u saw yesterday can still run like the wind when free he took a few bounces on the wing handballed to Johno took the ball back and took a few more bounces and then laser kicked a beauty inside 50.

fair enough.

I may be harder on Lids than say the Pendlebury's, Griffens, Dale Thomas's because hes a Tigers.

But as good as he is, due to my Tiger Blindness I guess, he just hasn't had the same impact as them.

I agree I may be harder on him because hes a Tiger.

C'mon Lids grab a game by the scruff and kill it. Thats what i'm wanting from our Number 1 pick. Other kids at other clubs have come close or done it already.

No probs U2 im just giving a different aspect to what i see including overall stats, dale thomas had only 11 possies on the weekend if that was lids he would be hung, thomas Pic 2.

Just on Griffen, in his first year 2005 he ave 13 disposals a game over his 17 games......Lids ave 15.3
In 2006 he played every game and ave 17 possessions a game......Lids ave 18.8
In 2007 he was injured but his 10 games had him ave 14 disposals a match.....Lids ave 18.36
And in 2008 griffen averaging 21 possies, 12 marks and 6 goals... Lids averaging 22, 18 marks and 4 goals.
Thats some tidy figures, improving all the time, what more can we ask from a guy about to turn 21 later this week.

yeah good stats there, and not surprising really.

Its not Lids posession count i'm worried about.

As I said its harder not to be more critical on our own players, than ones from other teams, I ean we analyse our own a lot more.

I think i'll retire on the lids argument, he will be ok.

I think Lids is at least equal of these guys if not better. His numbers stack up very well against them. What makes it difficult for him is the fact his started his career in a mediocre team with mediocre team mates. The others have the advantage of playing in much stronger sides with much greater structure and support. Put Lids in a good side and he would be a fair dinkum star. Hopefully we get to see that one day at Richmond.

Lids is averaging 18 marks a game this year or has taken 18 marks?

He has been getting run down so in my eyes (given his exceptional speed) leads me to think that he may be carrying a minor injury.

Thought much the same.

I remember seeing a closeup shot on the weekend of him having a run on the wing, and I could've sworn he was in top gear judging by his effortful expression. Switch back to the distant angle and he's getting run-down in nothing flat.

Can only be a minor injury, I think -- and may be on his non-preferred side because his kicking is still top-notch.

On the weekend he took a ball while heading towards the boundary, burnt his man on the turn with acceleration in a position where 75% of AFL players couldn’t and hit Richo perfectly. If he is injured I only wish all our players had his issues.
