Is Kane Johnson the right player to lead the tigers?

Looking at Johnson today at the G against the eagles he looked SLOW, and his field kicking is still suspect. Is this the right player to have as captain?
Judd gave him a flogging in the third quarter when he was tagging him. And tagging jobs is all he has seemed to get in the latter half of the season. The negative, negating role seems to be his lot, with little scope to actually win matches with inspiring play.
Wouldn't RFC be better served by a captain that can win games off hiis own boot? You only have to look at Cousins to see a bloke who can cut up an opposition.
Deledio is still 2 to 3 years away as captain material. Would we be better led by a player that can inspire team mates and win matches such as a brown, newman or coughlan?

Johnson is the man to lead RFC by default only. We have a gaping chasm in the leadership ranks.

First time to a Richmond match today.
Have a look at the most of the other 21 matches this season to form a view sunshine.

I actually think these tagging roles against top players is the best job for Johnson these days.    He seems to have the uncanny ability to keep them quiet and generally out posess them, but I think he needs to be led to the ball.  Once Johnson was taken off Judd his effectiveness seemed to drop.

Gotta say watching again today, Judd is class personified.

Has played his best football since his first year with us in his tagging roles this season. As others have said, he didn't play on Judd during the 3rd quarter and kept him quieter than usual while on him - which will make that the 2nd time he's effectively negated him this season, along with plenty of other quality onballers.

He's not a standout leader or the ideal person for the job, but he's worked hard at bettering himself for the role and I have no problem whatsoever with the majority of what he's done this season.

Give it to someone younger and let him play super rules, were his pace will be at home!

He's struggle to keep up with George Bisset.

If the players think that Kane Johnson has the goods to lead them into 2007 and if Terry thinks that Kane Johnson has the goods to lead them into 2007 that is good enough for me. I couldn't give a rats clacker what peope on here think. I am sick and tired of the negativity, why even bother if they find the whole thing so painful go and find another pastime.

To be honest I don't know if he is the best to lead Richmond. All I can say is I would simply be amazed if he was playing in a top side if he would be nominated as captain. That said he might still be the best person at Richmond at the moment.

I think he has done fine and Rayzorwire summarised it perfectly. I think he should be given the captaincy until Raines or Deledio are ready to captain the club.

Johnno is just another struggling player at best hes just a tagger.
Is he the right player to be captain? NO

Funny how the people who say this don't suggest any viable alternative.
