Is Patto too slow? Can he get any quicker?

on a positive if theres a place in the modern game for an old fashioned crash bash chf well he might be okay.at this stage of his career i would like to see him developed as both a chf and ruckman.

Yeah lets right off this 6ft 6 ,19 year old, who by the people who know got best player for our reserves was good enough to get a couple of senior games in his first year,HAS improved his kicking, one of our best pack marks at club already ,undoubtable courage.Yep *smile* him off.As for our drafting last year 3 highly skilled players and 2 with plenty of grunt good mix in my opinion,Sydney I wouldnt think would be the highest skilled team in the league but wouldnt have any peers in grunt

I wonder if modern day football has passed Jonathon Brown by, surely theres no room for a big lump of a lad at CHF?

im with tm he should never have been taken with pick 16.if all he becomes is a ruckman surely wood was the obvious choice at 16.in fact i remember pushing for wood with 16  gibson with 20 and got howled down by ferals.in fact i have repeatedly said one of 4 and 12 should have been used on a tall as well.lets say 1 and 4 deledio and tambling 12 m bate 16 wood 20 gibson 36 eckerman or sherman thats a pretty good balance with our 6 early picks instead wallace opted for mostly skinny but quick types and generally ignored the overall needs of the list just like he did this yr.
Igot caned for saying we should have used pick 4 to get a tall, anyway!

For a Kid his size he is great below his legs.Pretty clean in fact.Im not to fussed if he lacks a bit of agility. Its up to his teamates to adapt to his weakness.

Spot on there Skippa.

For mine Patto is a very interesting unit as he does in fact posess very good hands whether it be marking or at ground level, not to mention seems to have some footy smarts and he does have a good motor for covering a stack of ground but he does not have what i describe as pace but he does move well across the ground to a degree better than Knobel or Staff anyways.
Pattos biggest issue is is inability to move sideways which unlike being able to run straight is easy for all, young Adam turns like an aircraft carrier which is my biggest concern in TW's theory to try him as a CHF type.
Patto can run all day which is a fantastic attribute, but doesnt have the agility to be a CHF in my humble opinion rather i see Patto as developing beautifully with Simmo as Ruck Forwards that will provide the tigers with extra focal points up forward.
Patto also has shown a nice ability for Coburg as a tap ruck which is another positive.
As a Ruck/Forward i think Patto will be a very nice option should he go up a gear or two, but i just cannot see him as a CHF unless he can increase his agility in regard to quicker movement, turning, stop start stuff and the like.
If Patto comes on as a ruck forward he will IMO be of more value to the current side than Knobel in a very short period of time.
A lot to like bout young Adam. Lets hope he gets a good go in 06. 8)

To be honest, I think that Polo will be alright.  The Polo of last year's pre season Vs the player I saw in rounds 21/22 for the burgers signified a major shift.  But I do believe that if the Tigers really did want a roaming forward, Wood would have been the more appropriate choice.

Patto got a couple of games last year and IMO looked like a slowish string bean.  I know he is a kid but geez he has some work to do.  I hope he doesn't end up like another Gilmour.

I like Pattison, he has heart, desire, a big pair of hands that can mark and by all accounts a heap of stamina. His size is imposing - 198cm, 96 kgs, and still 19 - more so impressive when you take in to account his flexibility potential. He has many key assets to say he can make it as a versatile big man. He is as close to a young Benny Gale as we have seen. I am not sure about Pattison's pace however Benny wasn't blessed with pace yet he was a serious player; Pattison can be the same.

It is embarrassing to be a tiger supporter reading peoples comments in here
Couldnt agree with you any more.

Patto is going to be a key position player and definately has a bright future at Richmond. As mentioned, he has good hands (can take a good pack mark) and kicks well.

Apart from Richo, I dont know how much 195cm + run like the wind. As Redford mentions, Patto has good endurance. Patto may be delevoped to play a rotating ruck / forward position somewhat how Ottens was used while at Richmond.

Patto is still young and growing. He is definately a long term player that Richmond is investing in.

Guys Patto will be a CHF/RUCK in the Benny Gale mould. Both players arent/werent fast but they share the same quality in being able to read the flight of the ball spectacularly for great marks either up forward or back and both are willing to put their bodies on the line to break packs!
