Is there a rift in the RFC playing group?

Apparently some of the senior players and match committee are getting frustrated with the attitude of some of our younger players. Some of them have been dropped this year as a result. Ellis and Broad dropped for getting on the sauce last week is the hot rumour. But it's allegedly more than just those 2.

Ellis and Broad are in the older 40% of the list.

We have four premiership players younger than Nankervis (25 in August) - Butler, Castagna, Rioli and Graham, none of whom can afford to relax. The other young blokes haven't achieved anything yet.

If it's not scuttlebutt, it should be.

Heard this rumour, not sure there is much to it,... Ellis didn't play vfl, he is injured, not dropped.

It's hard to know, we are having to make changes every week due to injury so the side is very unsettled anyway which is starting to show in our performances.

Are players purposely injuring themselves so they can hold the club to ransom?

From what I hear the Broad and Ellis issue is true.

Playing group rightly pissed off with the both of them. Considering the injuries we have.

If it is true it will show just how strong our leadership is at the club from coach down to senior players. If they can't get on top of this then it could be the undoing of all that hard work to finally get a winning culture at the club. More importantly it may show that we are one hit wonders of the young guys coming in aren't continuing the culture of team first success.

Its not true FACT , KMac, Grimes ,Broady & Ellis were in Mildura, yes they had a few beers but were back @ hotel about 1am

Ellis had the least to drink out of them all

You say 1am as if to indicate it is early? I know how many beers I can sink by 1am, not exactly a couple of beers.

They were @ a supporters club function & out for dinner

Fact is they (Broady) weren't dropped for disciplinary reasons

Not a crime to have beers after playing & if you think it is ...........

Too true Taz, Players must be allowed to relax at some stage during what is really a very long season. A few beers is surely not a big deal. If they overdo it or do it consistently then it's a different matter. How many of us would be under the same scrutiny that AFL players are.

Who says it is a crime to have a few beers? But you posted they were only out until 1am drinking as if to say it's an early night.

A few is not a big deal, but if any player was dropped for disciplinary reasons it's obviously more than a few.

This wouldn't be a Parrott goon paid to drive up to Mildura and report this bullshit?

Anyway I am sure the truth lies some where in between.

Quite interesting considering Broad was dropped on the back of Astbury getting injured. Seems very odd.

It would be surprising if there is a rift, but with so many senior players out it's not beyond the realms of possibility that the considerable younger and less experienced team are finding it harder to perform the Richmond way. It's the leaders who would pick up players after a mistake, encourage and push them and give them a slight clip if required.

The effect of our horrendous injury list can't be under estimated
