Unless I am mistaken Saturday 28th July (The Tigers play Sydney in Sydney) marks a red letter day in the proud history of this club. I hope the club pumps this up.

[size=30pt]Richmond Football Club will be 2000 games old!!

Good point Jack--got this data from the footy record-I assume AFL only-1908 intro to AFL-say 100 years times 20 games a year all so---gives you 2000
(Just checked the record from the Brisbane game--Brisbane are down for 400 odd-so obviously not counting the Fizroy years)

That's what I figured it to be also.

Man , lot of History in 2000 Games , brings back some good memories , which during these Dark-day's , isn't a bad thing.

Luv ya Roycey Avatar , I'm thinking that we probably have a bit in common.........same Age , same childhood Hero ???

Man, what I wouldn't do to find an Ol' Lace-Up from those Day's.

Good pickup, Gordie.

Wonder if RFC are aware of this milestone?

any thing thatl pump them up is a good thing. Too bad the banner was has already been made last week, so it prob wont be on there.

Going back a way I'm sure it would get more publicity. However since our 1000th win (v Collingwood in 2005 when Nathan Brown cut Clement to bits in the last quarter) didn't receive any acknowledgement that I can recall, the club probably won't make a big deal of it.

The first game I ever attended was 1977 v Collingwood at the MCG. Not that any gimmick were required to draw a big crowd, it was known before the game that Collingwood were attempting their 1000th win. Crowd: 92000+. Never mind the fact that it was later discovered that the 1000th win occurred the following week at Kardinia Park - there was possibly a bit of "creative accounting" involved!

Sorry about that, Tiga. Wasn't trying to upstage you.

I was more amazed at the thought that they would be so organised.

Now your talking Jack-a "lace up"- I still reckon they were a better looking jumper aaaahhh but now we are just getting sentimental!!
And Royce was my hero--and still is ,and will be ,until another comes along------which probably is not going to happen---check out Growls wonderful posts on Blast from the past--hard to believe a guy 8 games into a VFL career gets the BIG V honours!!!!
