It's time to make it Official...The rumble in the 'Burg, Limbach versus Hughes

How good is this!!!

two potential gun forwards knocking each other week after week back into the Coburg reserves, both fighting tooth and nail for their spot, both kicking bags of goals.

Check this out:

Coburg reserves leading goalkickers:

D. Limbach 17
C. Hughes 16
A. Graham 14 (our rookie)

Then, look at this:

Coburg seniors leading goalkickers:

J. *smile* 16
D. Limbach 13
C. Hughes 12

Limbach is winning both times, but only just, and is a year ahead in development.

Here's to hoping both work out as gun forwards, but man is this fun to watch!

Place your bets ladies and gentlefolk, who is gunna win out? Will we end up playing both (they are different in style)? Will one be CHF and one FF? Both from the square? (my preferred option).

They both look very promising.

Fascinating if it turns out to be 1980 re-run of Roach-Taylor-Jackson competing for senior spots on the forward line

Ghost,

What are the main differences (style, quality, etc) between the two? Or are they very similar to eachother?

Ask 12 people you'll get twelve opinions on this. Mine however is:

Similarities:

Good marks
Accurate kicks
Reasonable pace
Similar height (Small/medium Key position players)

Differences:

Hughes better kick off the 'other' foot.
Hughes slighty better overhead mark
Hughes possibly longer range kick

Limbach, aside from leading and marking, also gets goals from just hard grinding work in the forwardline. i have seen him kick more goals from soccer kicks, free kicks from tackles, scragging other players and snapping a goal and other such methods than I have from seeing him lead and kick.

He is a goal scragger. He scrambles many goals like an angry crumber, but not like brownie or milne who have style about them, he does it the other way :)

This is one of the reasons I can see Hughes and Limbach in the same forwardline. One plays like -ahem- Lloyd, the other like Pettifer

So two different styles. That's very good for us, makes it easier to maintain them both.

Cleve strikes me as a classical lead-and-mark full forward. Strong hands and lovely kick. Limbach may be a little more creative, but (as has been said) a little awkward at times. Could be that Limbach may be suited to other positions.

Cleve will be a fantastic replacment for Richardson when he retires for sure. Hughes will be matured enough to hold the FF possie every week in 3 or so years
