well last night i attented the jack dyer medal presentation night
so i thought id just real off everything i can remeber about the night
firstly a couple of awards the first couple went to
shane edwards for rising star award- well deserved i think
Jake King- for best first year player- also well deserved
Nathan Foley- Francis Bourke award- definatly well deserved
i cannot remember the exact names of some awards but will thursfield and adam pattison each recieved an award also.
i was deeply dissapointed with the POOR speach by terry wallace it was really a hole load of nothing no inspiration, it didnt make me feel like where going somewhere just excuses and rambling on about geelong for a while but lucky for us he clearly new how to use powerpoint....his slideshow unforgetable luckily there was only 5 points he made otherwise he may have been struggling to get a second page. I was very dissapointed in the speach last night just coulda been a hole lot better.
now to the actual jack dyer medal....and the winner was richo....well deserved, yes but his for 2007 i dont think so. The richmond year of 2007 clearly belonged to that of Nathan foley who richo piped by 1 vote in the final round. Now i love richo and am happy to see him finally win won, but i dont agree im sorry but i should have gone to nathan foley. It shows to me how the system doesnt work had our votes been a simple 3-2-1 or a 5-4-3-2-1 then nathan would have walked it in miles ahead where he belongd, but no the system let him down not by anyones fault but this just happens in a richo star game he was getting a 20+ votes but a nathan star game would of avergaed about a 16 this is just how voting is always goin to go a well known player when he absolutely kills it will get more votes then a relatively unkown player...always gunna happen..but it shouldnt.
i also have other worries i noticed but will not comment until i have checked them again.
Now to the night $180 dollars a ticket...now with paying that you would expect an incredible night....not exactly the waiter service was poor the food tho nice was was minute...i could have ate my steak hole it was that small...didnt even need my ticket any body coulda just walked in and sat at a table.
To me a dissapointing night in alot of respects, i wont be back for a while, if ever
to nathan foley badluck mate im sure its hard to deal with now every body woulda been telling you, you had it and to miss out just tragic but keep goin youll get one someday.
To richo congratualtions mate, my worries have no problem with you had someone had to beat foley im glad it was you a well deserved medal to add to a outstanding career
also to the band the vibes congrats yous where good
