Surely in this day and age there’s far greater things to worry about then a family club bring their offspring up on stage when getting a medal that they made great sacrifices for?

It should be just for the
Disagree. Our club is full of well rounded individuals that love their families and want to share their success with them.

Would you rather they were all like Dangerfield? Look at me. Look at me. I’m the best look at me. Get off MY stage look at me.

Just an observation TT. Not understating any "sacrifices". Although not entirely sure that's the right word.

When you say sacrifice I don't really think well paid AFL player in safe HUB on the gold coast. It's more like the young in this story

Yeah I think I'd call that a false dichotomy.

Not something I would lose sleep over though - there are more important things to worry about.

Jack has just turned 32 so thinking he can play all of 2021 and then 2022 and retire at the end of that season. Would have (subject to staying injury free) around 320 games and 720 goals

Its a small thing and it really doesn't bother me when we win, But I reckon Premiership medal dias should be players only. Milestone games strap as many kids on as you want, its an individual acheivement.

Where do you draw the line? little kids only?, up to 5, 10? Can the coach bring their adult kids up? Nephews and nieces if you don't have kids and want in on the action? Parents, grandparents? I'm not really against any of these, but why should any be excluded, logically?

no biggie but no for me. :afro

Agree. Go all in on 2021 and call it a day. It will be best for the club if he hangs them up at the end of next season.
You got a crystal ball? I reckon the smart move is to make that call mid to late next season.

Definitely. He could play well for several more years.

He went from our best player in 2018 (B&F) to just a good player when he did his PCL in 2019.

Some weeks he’ll kick 55m goals, other weeks he‘ll struggle from 40m. Is that a natural decline due to age or his knee?

Tom’s PCL was playing up a year later, Jack is now only about 15 months out from having done it. PCLs are tricky.

Also, Nick dominated as a 34yo, and Jack has proven to be better than Nick in every regard. It would only be an issue if he’s risking serious long-term harm by playing on. But I’ll assume that’s not the case until I know otherwise.

So come on Jack, 3 more years please!

dangerfield must have alot of pull at the club, people go to him rather than joel. why did Jack go to him and not Joel regarding Richmond lining up?

Think you will find it will be the one and only year you ever see a kid head up onto the podium and I think that is about right.

I can see where they were coming from this year but once normal service resumes it's unnecessary.

Interesting that the four leading goalkickers for the year (Hawkins, Kennedy, Dixon, Riewoldt) all finished the season on the wrong side of 30. First time this has ever happened - previous closest was 1994 when Ablett, Dunstall, Kernahan filled the first three spots.

Im shocked Dixon is 30. The way the media went on about him this year it was like he is the second coming of Carey.

153 games for 246 goals. Fair to say he is not close to those other three you mentioned over the course of their careers.

How many people bring their nephews and nieces to work?
Get their adult kids to sit and play on the floor in the office? Grandparents?
My young kids have often come along with me to my workplace, for short periods. Extended family nup.
So we arent likely to see Brandon,s great aunt up on the podium with him.

The logic is whatabouterism?
At the end of the day its a parent and young child at the end of the game.
At a local club you see it all the time as the families stand around and bask in the aftermath of a game of footy

Shouldn't be forgotten that Jack took a decent pay cut when he extended for 2 years back in 2018, so he could not only keep players then at the club but crucially it also allowed us to make room for Lynch. He'd take some satisfaction from that selfless decision given it's given him two more premierships.

A decent comparison is probably Tom Lynch. 175 games for 349 goals and he’s 2 years younger than Dixon, so unless Charlie can kick more than 100 next year he won’t equal Lynch’s stats. Not worthy of the fuss made about him.

Said to the wife during the presentation that some sourpuss who complain about this....never thought it would be a fellow tiger! ;) Had my money on Cornes or Barrett.

Its part of our culture. Its about being inclusive. Its about celebrating the moment with those that are most important to you. it's our fabric. If it's what the players want to do then let them do it. May we see the RFC doing it for many years to come.
