Fair call,
I just hate hearing about 3 players hanging off him,
Where were the 2 free forwards?

The two free forwards were Elton and Miller.

In other words, there were no free forwards.

Re: Jack Riewoldt

We don't need cloke. Granted, I'd take him if he was undervalued, or even at his value, but the price you'd have to pay him would blow up our salary cap. It will be difficult, in three or four years time, to keep our list together, and having a million a season going to Cloke will pretty much sink one of our other future stars. And we don't REALLY need him. All we need is a player who's going to give Jack a chop out. Just someone who will present, mark, and kick. Elton was supposed to do that on the weekend, but he's clearly not ready. Miller was supposed to do that for the last two years, but he's a hunk of junk.

We don't NEED a superstar CHF, we just need any CHF, and another competent tall, so Jack can work against the best defender, instead of the best three. We have our superstar forward in Jack, who is substantially better than cloke, we just need to either trade for, or develop, a competent marking tall to run around the half forward line.
THat does not cost you a million a season.

Re: Jack Riewoldt

I think you will find Griffiths there in the next 12-18 months. Learning the craft down back to see what the other forwards do. Imagine down the track him marking it within 60m, a long bomb to the goal square for a major or a one on one for Jack.

I will put my hand up. Get cloke.

I'm 50/50 on it

This is why Vickery in the forward line is important. There is a chemistry when he is there which means they separate, they rarely go for the same ball and Vickery's man isn't the 3rd man up.

It's why they talk about Vickery being important for the structure, even when he is not playing well he moves to the right places and provides another option.

Re: Jack Riewoldt

Vickery's injury for me has been the most shattering of any of the outs this week. We really really need him. For some reason Vickery is really good at drawing defenders away from Jack, and Miller is really good at drawing them to him. Jack, Elton, Miller, is the worst forward line set up I can imagine, But Jack, Vickery, Elton, to me, feels substantially better.

I just want to see Jack get some space and delivery. He'd kick 8 every week.

that long bomb from 60m will sail through post height

We need to change how we go inside 50 not get Cloke. Richmond and Freo have traded more draft picks for middle aged players than any two clubs and played less finals in the same period. Recipe does not work.

yer Sydney are such a poor team with all those reccyles they have

Re: Jack Riewoldt

Jack better extract the digit and step up when it counts this weekend. He wants to be an elite player, this is the week to show us that instead of going missing when the game is not going our way (like last week).

He didn't go missing last week, he lost all supply.

And when it did come in, he had four people on his head while Elton and Miller wandered around oppositionless.

He tried to counteract it by playing up the ground, which he did well, and he himself delivered some of our nicest inside fifties, but, unfortunately, he couldn't deliver it to himself, so had to give it to and underdone first gamer, or an over done hack.

All that aside, he still kicked three goals.

Re: Jack Riewoldt

Jack is an elite player and if given the opportunity with supply and structure he is a freak. A perfect example in the 1st qtr last week when he knew the outcome of the play when he lead Rutten a merry dance and turned him inside out to run onto and kick the easiest of goals - it was great.

so true.

Re: Jack Riewoldt

Massive challenge for Jack this week. Frawley has owned Jack the last few years.

With players out, the club in semi-turmoil it would be a huge week and show real leadership to kick a bag.

Re: Jack Riewoldt

Jacks a gun, no doubt about that. He is and will continue to be the key man we need playing well in our forward line. The problem this week for us is that Frawley is probably the only player that has had it all over him. He is the only defender I have seen consistently beat Jack in the one on ones, and we know how hard that must be to do.

Of course we need more avenues to goal, IMO it most important this week especially.
