Jack Riewoldt [Merged]

Re: Jack Riewoldt

Jack must not be 100% against, yet his marking was elite. A little luck, could of had 7.

Looking foward to his big bag this weekend.

Re: Jack Riewoldt

I thought that was the best I have ever seen Jack play on Frawley. He played well enough to kick 6.

Strange that the kicking yips have hit him, he kicked beautifully against the saints a month ago. In the head i would think.

Got a feeling he might have a feild day against the suns this week.
Dare I say another bag of 10 coming up.

Re: Jack Riewoldt

The suns don't have the defensive stock to stop him. But we still need him to get the supply.

As long as it was just yips, and not injury/ankle related, Jack won't kick badly two weeks in a row.
If there's one thing we know about him, it's that he's headstrong and performs under scrutiny.

So, provided Martin can feed him the ball....
I mean, provided Foley can feed him the ball...
No wait,
Provided Ablett can feed him the ball he should kick ten.

I'm almost certain it's in the head. The Banana shot he had last week was an unusual choice given where he was kicking from.

I really hope you are right. We need to get our season back on track. Jack for mine should stop leading to the pockets and have the smalls feed off him if he can't take the mark himself.

Re: Jack Riewoldt

I don't think form or head issues were the case on Saturday.

It was just poor finishing. Easily could have and should have had 5.

If we get supply to him, back him for 7 this week.

But the 'nana was odd.

Re: Jack Riewoldt

2010: 78 goals 39 points at an accuracy of 66.66%. 5.3 scoring shots per game
2011: 62 goals 26 points at an accuracy of 70.45%. 4.0 scoring shots per game
2012: 39 goals 30 points at an accuracy of 56.52%. 4.9 scoring shots per game

There has been a massive drop off his his accuracy this year. And this doesn't count the complete misses or not making the distance which I reckon he has had a lot more of this year than in the past.

If he had have kicked at last year's accuracy, he would have 48 goals for the year at 3.42 a game rather than 39 at 2.78, and would be on track to beat last year's haul of 62 goals very comfortably.

It is a big difference.

this is not an indictment on Jack, more on how the game is played. Watch where Jack gets his shots from.
More often than not, he is getting the ball on the flanks and in the pockets.

Or he is getting it outside F50 (when he plays further up).

The simple fact of the matter is, which i posted elswhere the other day, is that player fatigue is killing goal kicking accuracy.
Case in point, see the legends game the other night - the intensity was so much lower, shots for goal were from 30 out in front. hence the accuracy.

when jack is 30 out in the corridor, there are two and three blokes on him. When he is one on one, hes in the pockets/flanks.

Given, a firing Vickery would help get Jack one on one more often. This is a by product of todays game. Until this press/flooding/zoning/pagans paddock/rolling zone is worked out/worked through, we are just going to have to put up with poor kicking efficiency/goal efficiency

Pretty much spot on doherz. Plenty of the key forwards struggling to kick accurately due to the defensive structures in place.

Bizarre. Jack clearly lacked belief. You could almost sense that Frawley had gotten inside his head.

Jack has been a bit that way for a while vs Frawley so it's a pity he missed so many shots, he could have put that demon o bed a bit. Even though he played ok, and those marks will help, he's probably behind he Frawley ledger still, in his head I mean.

Problem is that on days like Saturday against Melbourne, and several other games from this season, we have also been missing the easy shots within 30 metres in the corridor. And Jack has missed many goals this year which he would have kicked blindfolded last year or the year before.

Re: Jack Riewoldt

needs to strike the ball exactly the way he did against St Kilda several rounds back! Just going through a stage now where 7 shots - 2.5 ... needs to start converting those to 5.2

One shot for goal on a tight angle in the second was a ridiculous attempt at a banana for 40m. Low percentage. Even his dubious free kick for his first he over complicated it snapping for 7m out on a 45degree angle. Almost got smothered.

Keep it simple Jack.

I agree, even good goal kickers miss them from the pockets (admittedly Jack missed some easy shots from straight in front on Saturday). The real issue is hot having a decent CHF this year (i.e. Miller and an injured TV) to take the pressure off. I say go Luke...

Good work Phil. I will still back him to beat last years 62.

With you scoop. Jack has missed a foil or 2 this year, would love to see his numbers if we had a legitamite 2nd tall forward. Jack"s been double & tripe teamed most of the year. Would like to see big Maric spend more minutes forward on the coming weeks.
