Re: Jack Riewoldt

Will most likely get Matthew Warnock. We will most likely rack up 50+ inside 50's. 6 goals +. Nothing less Jack.

Agree, barring injury, 6 goals is the pass mark.

I back him for ten though.

1 goal 3 in another ass riping by the gold coast

Re: Jack Riewoldt

Two huge weeks for Jack. This week could really propel his confidence and against North next week we will only win if he plays a strong game.

Re: Jack Riewoldt

I've been tough on Jack this year and I'm not about to let up. There were many disappointing moments in the last quarter but amongst them was a moment when Edwards had the ball on the left half back flank. Up the ground Jack was one-out with a completely vacant fifty behind him and chose to force Edwards to ice the clock. He refused to lead. Edwards had to switch the ball into the skinny side of the ground, the side the Suns had favoured all day to run the ball. Needless to say two possessions later, turn-over on the opposite wing, the Suns end up with a goal. I've seen him do it in other games and it is really frustrating. He is over complicating things. I'm sure he thinks he has summed up the situation and that his decision is warranted. But the simplest solution is usually the best. He is one-out in a paddock on the fat side of the ground. Edwards would have run on after disposing of the footy so between them that would have been either a shot at goal (putting us further in front and probably sealing the game) or a contest close to the 50 and the boundary with an open goal. Either one was better than forcing the ball onto the opposite wing where the Suns had the numbers. I know people will see this as OTT, plenty at the ground were giving us funny looks as we SCREAMED at Jack to offer a lead, (he almost certainly heard us).

I guess part of this is that he is an on-field leader, would Jonno Brown forego a contest or would he back himself and help lift his team to victory?

Mate he was a lone warrior in the forward line and kicked 5. He is a champion. Im sorry but criticism towards players such as lids, jack and cotchin for coming off is totally not warranted. Its mugs like edwards who tries the impossible in the forward line by trying to kick it off the ground, griggs insipid chasing and tackling and grahams soft as butter effort in putting any body on trent mckenzie leading up to the goal.

Re: Jack Riewoldt

The stars will inevitably draw the praise for wins and criticism for losses. Unfortunately thats the way sports work. The stars cop all the heat.

I don't disagree with much of that, but then I didn't say any of that. I was speaking of a specific incident that should have sealed the game but instead helped us to lose it. All these things add up and he is not wholly responsible, but he deserves attention for that decision IMO. We are not a side that needs to be icing the clock at this stage of our development especially in the context of successive fade-outs. Finish the game. Provide a contest every time. Don't put the heat on your team-mates. I was at the game and there is no way that Edwards can be accused of not having a go, he was great and has been great all year. Jack was great for most of the game but that was a poor decision. Simple as that. He needs to get it out of his game. If he is one-out then he should provide an option, it is not his place to be directing the ball away. Let his team-mates make their decisions, but it is his job to provide an option, and he was clearly the best option, and Eddy really wanted him to lead but he refused. It was very disappointing.

I thought Gus did his best, by the end of the game he was really struggling to get to contests, he is not a straight swap for Maric so you take what you get.

It wasn't just the mugs that cost us the game though. The champions should not be immune from criticism. Even Lids would be looking back at his effort at the last centre bounce and be disappointed in his effort there. If not, he should be.

Then again Lids can look at his 36 disposal game and his all for the team. But yeah i do agree.

Re: Jack Riewoldt

Omg, i can not believe david king having a go at riewoldt for cracking it at the end of the game. Why wouldnt he be angry? He just lost to the worst side 2 years in a row king you absolute knob. He thinks he knows everything that bloke, someone needs to tell him to sit down.

Re: Jack Riewoldt

Needs to not get sucked into mind games and playing the man. Time to jump and back yourself for a whole game.

Re: Jack Riewoldt

Jack was horrible in the first half,
I don't understand why he wanted the ball in a one-on-one contest when Thompson was beating him every single time.
Glad the coaches got stuck into him at half time and got him to lead for the footy.

Needs to stop sooking and playing for free kicks....pull your head in Jack.

Spot on.
