Nope. We need a fit vickery and adequate depth backup.

Re: Jack Riewoldt

Why the hell does he get sucked into wrestling with his opponent rather than being on the move?

It just beggars belief.

because he has a rock ape mentality , and hates it when another rock ape is stronger than him , he needs to relise that some buys are stronger , therefore you do not play to their strenghand but find another way to beat your man , wayne carey used to do the same with jakovich that is why he had a hard time against him

I think Phil he tries but that pace is not his greatest asset and the defenders tend to be able to go with him if the lead/leading space is telegraphed.

Re: Jack Riewoldt

The Roos put a lot of work into Jack knowing that he's our only real target.
Not all of it legal but they got away with it in the most part.
Smart coaching and defensive work by their talls.

if that really is what jack is trying to do , then he needs to work way harder on his upper body when he is in the gym
carey and jackovich were alot more solid in the upper body

i agree , he needs to get moving and stop trying to wrestle the opposition

Sometimes i think Jack needs a bag of Fairy Floss and a Toffee Apple just to settle those child-like antics down.

Time to grow up Jack and stop whinging!

Not sure I agree totally with those sentiments, but I know what you mean. Very public display of petulance and sulkiness when things aren't going his way.
He should be leading by example, just work harder and smarter, I reckon he'd get more respect and hopefully the umpires will be prepared to pay the frees he deserves, rather than turn a blind eye when he gives them lip.

And there's the point, although the umpires are supposed to be professional and beyond reproach, if you have someone whingeing every time the ball is near him, you probably may look away. I don't believe for one second that the umps should look away, but perhaps subconsciously they "turn off".

Yep, that's what I believe.

And there it is a nut shell. Jack should change his game to fit in with what the umpires want. That is the essence of the problem. The game is not about the BLOODY umps! A player shouldn't have to work out what the umps think.

Maybe, but don't stop and reminstrate with the Umpire while you could be giving a second or third effort in defense rather than stopping and having a cry to the Umpires.

Carey used to winge at the umps more.

Re: Jack Riewoldt

Jack needs to stop sooking. Regardless of whether he should deserve a free - berating the umpires just doesn't work - they tend to get their backs up a bit & become blind if they don't like you. The last 12 weeks have shown that time & time again. Ask Brett Deledio if it works. Jack should lead more & not push back as much. The tangle of arms & who is holding who will always allow the umpires some leeway to not make a decision. He is not playing to his strengths.

Re: Jack Riewoldt

His cousin seems to get away with it. I've renamed him as Sook, every time you see him he's in the umpire's ear telling him why he should be getting a free kick.
