Jacko's goal-Fluke or flair?

it was arse. nice hands by young jack though. and maybe jacko can actually play... never would have thought i'd say that...

If you hadn't seen the kick you'd have thought it was Jack not Jacko that kicked the goal judging by their post-goal celebration. :happy

I'm still not convinced.

Next time, if can pull a rabbit out of his shorts, I'll be convinced he'll be much better than Daicos.

It was only a 'reverse check side' in that it was kicked off the instep rather than the outside of the foot. The ball still spun the same way as a conventional check side.

Someone should invent a "running side", i.e. a kick that bends the correct way for a right footer from the left pocket. I must've spent hours as a kid trying to make it work, to no avail.

I dont understand how anyone can say it was a fluke. He was aiming for a goal and he got it. To me it can only be fair, hte level of difficulty in that is ridiculously high and even if he would have problems doing it again if he tried still was meant to go through and it did. My vote = fair.

Agree with shawry.

As much as I admire the execution of the kick I agree with RROFO in that this is what we have to look forward to in coming years.

The thing I like best about it is it was Edwards who originally burst the ball out of the congestion and got it to Riewoldt who with clean quick hands (and from below his knees) got it to Jackson who kicked a pearler for 6 points.

Generation Next on display :fing32

Just give these young'uns their head, Terry. Minimum of supervision, just let them have their heads and play like they enjoy it.

Might work wonders. Be good for my blood pressure, too!

Agree Growl. Despite the season we're having (or not having), I'm really enjoying watching the kids grow and learn at this elite level.

I'll 3rd that. Despite the fact we haven't won a game I'm still looking forward to watching the games for the exact reasons you guys mentioned.

On Jacko's kick, I say fair. I agree with Shawry and Jimbob that he was aiming for it and as the definition of fluke is 'accidental success' it can't be a fluke. :)

Still reckon Jacko 'pulled a Homer' of sorts.

That's just it GPB.
Daics pulled that off that stuff regularly enough that you'd put it down to skill.
Jackson looked as surprised as anyone that he'd put that through.
If he starts kicking goals like that week to week then I'll change my mind but at this point it was fluking miracle that it went through.

But don't get me wrong great goal!

Heaps of players pull shots out similar to Jacko's. Daic's was the master years ago but nowadays with players being full time and heaps of skill work done there's plenty of freaky goals kicked.
Good to see the players are still able to get away with these types of shots when coaches are so strong on players always trying to give to the better option and not risk turnovers.

I still enjoy watching the reaction of the boys.

And they were pumped!

More of those for 2008. please.
