Jake King

Re: Jake King (Merged)

I'm swimming against the tide a bit, but I reckon his pressure was a significant part of us being able to lock the ball in our half for much of the second half.

Re: Jake King (Merged)

Must bring in someone else.
The defining moment for me was in the last minute of the game, he had the ball running 40 out and he still look to give it off.
Him and nahas refuse to attack the goals, there 1st option is to give it off when they arête already in a better position.
I thought I never say it but, I would play Conners instead.
Average footballer and at times embarrassing to watch! He needs to go

Perhaps. I've watched Arnot in the small forward role at Coburg and I'm not sure he is ready. Still learning the caper, still looks more at home when he is let loose in the midfield.

I'm hoping connors plays another good game today and they can't ignore him any more.

Yeah. Here's hoping. He has AFL experience and reckon he's better suited to the forward line than backline anyway.

Re: Jake King (Merged)

Was painfully obvious last night we can't afford to carry 2 small forwards who have a realistic range of 30m or less in front of goal. I'm not fussed who, but at least 1 of them needs to make way for a better option. If Connors is in better form, bring him in.

Not to mention that Miller cant kick much further either.

Think he might've been too knackered to kick 30m.

Is it some sort of game plan? How about the one Nahas kicked to his man on the mark looking for Deledio when only 25 metres out? I don't get it.

Good get MLD but I agree that he was poor in the first half. The amount of times Jack bought the ball to ground in the first half and bombers would have two or three at the foot of the pack and little pressure applied by Richmond in the rebound was disappointing.

Might also have been a structural problem in our set up. I wasn't at the game so I dont know if he was playing a hard tag on Dempsey on the first half, if so it might have been a strategic mistake.

Second half was a pass but he still looks hampered by the knee. Has many credits in the bag though. Late twenties though and if his injuries continue to affect his speed and ability to use his physicality for the team's benefit, then he will start to struggle for a game.

I didn't get it either. Someone called it in the Nahas thread - cracked under pressure.

I've been a backer, but would replace "many" with "a couple of".

Re: Jake King (Merged)

I heard a story late last week that Jake had some damage to a forearm and was likely to be wearing long sleeves over some protective gear to hide it.

Interesting that he DID wear long sleeves for the start - but was far better when he got rid of them!

All possibly true and that's why he is at Coburg BUT he is probably the best decison maker and user of the ball at the club.

I hope he can add some intensity to his game because it would be a waste if he doesn't make it.

Re: Jake King (Merged)

Sorry, dementia took hold in my earlier post.

Meant to reply to a post on A Maric which I probably imagined.

Re: Jake King (Merged)

Jake was pretty cold in the first half. And he doesn't look quite right. But you know, when you barrack for Richmond it feels to good to have a bloke in the yellow and black that the other team is frightened of.

There was at least twice that an Essedun footballer in perfect position would not take possession because King was running at them. He provided at least one spoil on... Fletcher or Carlisle and shepherded a goal through against I think Hooker. No stats for that stuff.

I didn't think he was too bad. On the night I thought we had maybe a dozen players who were very ordinary in patches. I guess Jake was among them.
