If you watched Coburg games you would understand where he is being groomed for.....I'll give you a hint, it is not in the forward line.

EFL?

Jake's now been suspended 4 times in his last 20 or so games, mostly because of carry over points.

Has any other AFL player been suspended 4 times in his last 20 games?

Surely Jake knows the tribunal system and its carry over points that are there to deter players from regularly offending.

Do Richmond need such regular disruptions to the playing group while it strives and is on track for a successful era?

Its nice to have a tough players in the team, but Jake's regular transgressions are getting to the ridiculous stage.

Jack Dyer was tough. The opposition feared him.

Jake thinks he is tough, but the opposition and the maggots bait him and he bites - nearly everytime.

I have and will gladly continue to cheer and clap Jake, but geez, it would be nice if he cut the angry man crap and played the footy we expect from him.

The year is 2012 not 1959. Footy has changed. For better or for worse I do not know. But thuggery and stupidity went out years ago.

This spray might make sense if he was being suspended for an 'angry man' act, or for biting when baited.

The only genuine "thuggery" he's been guilty of was punching Didak in the guts, partly the result of past history. King flew the flag on a day we had our pants pulled down around our ankles.

Let's see how we go without him on the weekend when Freo turns on its regular bully-boy routine. Maric, Nahas and Edwards...they'll be licking their lips.

Look, I agree that Jake has been harshly treated by the maggots and the AFL.

But, he does bring it upon himself by his overt actions.

It is these overt actions that are causing the maggots to make wrong decisions when he is involved in the play.

He doesn't get the free kicks he deserves.

He gets lots paid against him that are undeserved.

The tribunal love suspending him for nonesense.

If Jake can quietly put up with the crap from the maggots, ie not respond when they cruxify him, and stop stupid attempts to trip morons like Milne (I'd love to trip that SOB up too) for an extended period then the maggots and the tribunal will have to pay him the respect that we think he deserves.

But if Jake can't, do we want him to continue to damage the Tiger brand so regularly?

I don't, irrespective of who you guys think that I think should replace him.

Was bloody proud of Kingy that day

I'd be frustrated if the only way of getting a free was if someone fly-kicked me in the head

I haven't seen any evidence that King is damaging the brand. In fact, media love of the 'Push Up King' meme indicates the opposite.

I'm not a 'you guys', and I haven't mentioned Matthew White once in relation to any of this.

He's had a poor season. Well down on Nahas and Titch for both goals scored and goal assists and pressure acts. Is bottom 7 or 8 for Tigers on average tackles. Is 6th last for possessions only ahead of White, Maric, Vickery, Post and Miller. Onl good game he's realy played this year was against the Hawks. Needs to do better but a couple of frees would certainly help.

Agree.

His spot is there to take if Maric wants it. King is nowhere near his form of last year and has struggled.

I read other boards. Coming from a base of rock bottom, King has earned respect from many neutrals through the way he goes about his football. There are also many haters, which is understandable; I'd hate him if he played for another club. Characters always polarise.

Re: Jake King (Merged)

Jake needs to attract less attention...But he is a part of the fabric that makes us count... Hardwick knows what he is on about.

All those goals?? 5 for the season, yeah awesome.

Fair point.

I'd be pretty confident that there are at least a couple of others that could apply just as good defensive pressure. Just MO.

Just based on Hardwicks mantra "Must earn your spot".

More open to debate, but I guess someone gets a chance this weekend.

Re: Jake King (Merged)

some people are a bit harsh on king here.

open your eyes, 3 of his last 4 suspensions were crap? is the game netball or football?

And for those saying he has had a poor season - AGAin OPEN your bloody eyes???

Has played well and 2 of his games he still had quite a bit of knee soreness from his injury im led to believe.

against hawks, first quarter: gets a ridiculous free paid against him and 50m penalty for push in the back, the 5 mins after that kicks 2 cruical goals in swirly/windy conditions to give us an important lead at quater time.
Third quarter hawks making a mini comeback 17pts down, king gives a great assist to tuck who goals then minutes later kicks one himself, again just aftyer hawks got back to 17pts. *smile* me

My eyes are widely open. He has not played well this season. If he has knee soreness then that's an excuse but it doesn't change the fact he's played relatively poorly. You used examples of the Hawthorn game, that was clearly his best game for the season and has not been representative of his form this year.

Re: Jake King (Merged)

Carrying a number of injuries, not just the knee.
A credit to his toughness and committment to the cause that he gets out there week after week.

Tripping is a bit of a dog act I reckon. It is not in the spirit of the game and is probably more dangerous than actually clocking someone.
